You know I love a little nail polish dabble. Case in point some recent acquisitions from Revlon - their summer scented polishes. Excellent quality and bright, fun shocks of colour - well except for the nude which is not that great to apply....
This is the colour that Kate Middleton famously wore (paired with Essie Allure) on her wedding day.
I have to admit I was a little bit happy when the Bourjois PR's manically tweeted this fact because I realised that I had this on my bedside table.
*Cue Middleton fangirl squeal*
It's one of those polishes that you have to have. Not only does it flatter every skin-tone, it looks perfect after two coats, dries to a glossy finish and even when sporting natural nails, stays chip free for a good few days. I also love the fact that someone like myself - who cannot apply natural nail polish colour for sh**, still manages to do a pretty decent/acceptable job.
I can't fault it. And I recommend it to every woman I know. :)
Hair fail
I have failed on the outfit front this weekend as I didn't wear anything particularly exciting but I do have a little shopbop.com sale order that came through (in 3 days - incredible service!) so I cannot wait to show you the two dresses I got...
So in the meantime I will leave you with something that made me laugh when I was clearing out my Photobooth.
Clearly I fail at curling hair :)

Take Care!

But these are colours I generally plonk on my toes. On my hands - at least on and off for the last few months - it has been Bourjois's Rose Lounge.

I had to go out and get that polish as soon as I saw the tweets! Makes me feel like a princess (and a lemming) but makes me happy nonetheless :)
ReplyDelete@Karen - we can be overexcited fangirls together. It's such a fab polish :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a pity I can't buy Bourjois's Rose Lounge where I live, you make me want it even more :D
ReplyDeleteI actually like the hair!
ReplyDeleteI bought a two Bourjois varnishes a few years back and hated them, the formulation was just weird and the brush was too big for my little nails. I really like this though, so might just give this a swatch when on my next make-up prowl.
@jewels and nails - ah you neeeed it. i know there are loads of nudes out there but this is the one i find the easiest to apply :) i also hear that Essie's Mademoiselle and Essie's Ballet Slippers together is an amazing nude combo. Cant wait to try that next time I get a manicure!
ReplyDeleteYour hair pic did make me smile - glad to know I'm not the only one who's, er, curl-challenged! :) X
ReplyDelete@Lorraine - can't you see the two little stragglers :) haha
ReplyDelete@Melanie - I am most definitely curl challenged...I give up :) haha
same with jewels and nails, I can't buy it where I live. Shame it looks so pretty! Your hair does not look that bad, trust me mine is worse!
ReplyDeleteSeen these polishes crop up quite a few times on other blogs, and I think I will give them a try.

Haha, oops. :O Girl least likely to observe wins the medal for least observant blog reader.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip,I will definitely try it. I bought both of them (from your favourite ebay shop:))
ReplyDeleteLaura! Do the Revlon scented polishes smell any good? I may need these in my life if they do...gotta love 'subtley-scented' over 'chemical pong'!
ReplyDeleteXx
Haha that hair made me laugh =) I'm with you, I suck at curling hair!
ReplyDeleteAs sad as it is.. I feel like I need something that Kate Middletown has owned/worn aaah! I've never tried Revlon polishes but no doubt I'll end up buying one next time I'm in Boots!
ReplyDeletexx
maybe some skincare post? :) miss it so much! :)
ReplyDeleteand I thought that only Essie Allure was the only one she wore, but lesson learnt, thank you! :)
I've never tried Bourjois' polish before. May have to pop out and give this one a go!

oh wow i didn't know this was this polish she used. I want it now.. xx
ReplyDeletehey Laura! Yeah, I'm afraid I have to agree with you...Hair not good...! LOL ! But I'm challenged in this area as well... Loving the blog:) xxx♥, Karine.
ReplyDeleteI've recently only started buying Revlon nail varnishes and I have to say they are fantastic. Love the application and the staying power is brill. Have heard so much about this Bourjois one too - obvs gonna get it!!
ReplyDeleteI am so jealous of your nail polish! I got the essie allure, but I can't get my hands on the bourjois in the states. The curls aren't that bad! You would certainly do a better job than I would at curling my hair - I've never tried it before! Curling irons kind of freak me out :(
ReplyDeleteI've been loving Essie Fiji as a manicure nude but after seeing your comment about combining colors I will have to try that! Love the revlon shades... just wish their application was more consistent - it's always hit and miss
ReplyDeleteI love the revlon shades, and I've really been getting into some of OPI's stuff (I can request it on discount from a lovely friend...who knows someone...who knows someone).
ReplyDeleteI'm an awful chipper, it only take a day before my nails look horrendous...I don't understand what I do to chip them! I think it's gnomes in the night.
I love the polishes, they all look fab! Are you going to return to youtube?
ReplyDeleteWell a/ I need to have this Bourjois polish and b/ I don't think you fail at curled hair, but you actually need to shake it, run though it with your fingers (and possibly some lightweight serum) then spray and scruch a bit, and there you'll have Kardashian soft curls ;-)
ReplyDeleteLaura, I'm beyond words happy that I have found your blog... I missed your fun writing :)
ReplyDeleteLOL at your hair... It looks cute :P
Oh, your hair. Happen to every one of us :)
ReplyDeleteGod I need a polish haul. And if kate middleton used that polish, then I MUST HAVE IT. Haha!
ReplyDeleteALSO I don't know if it went through on twitter but thanks for the recommendation of the new batiste volume dry shampoo, IT IS AMAZING!! If you're ever interested in seeing my results I've put it up on my blog haha.
Also, that same curling fiasco has happened to me haha!

Still need to buy that polish. Is it wrong that I'd prefer red nails and lips on my own wedding day?!
ReplyDeleteHave to say I like your curls. If I ever mess them up I just go through them with a paddle brush to get Hollywood waves instead!
X
I was finally brave enough to wear curled hair out today. Definitely need more practice.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried the John Frieda lightening spray yet? Very curious about the results. xx
Ooo your hair looks lovelyy! <3 And them nail polish looks really good! xxx

ReplyDeleteHey Laura,
ReplyDeleteHave you tried any of those pirates of the caribbean opi polished yet if so any good as I've gone and ordered
all 6 of them..x
Hey Laura,
ReplyDeleteI know you might get this a lot but I really, REALLY miss your videos. I'm sure others do too. Your opinions can be very well trusted, and what usually works for you works for me.
I'm currently re-watching all your videos 'cause I basically don't have anything better to do haha. Nonetheless, I'm glad you're starting writing again. Perhaps one day you'd start making videos again ;)

ReplyDeleteAfter missing you from youtube for quite a while, I finally move on to this new blog of yours.
ReplyDeleteRan to the nearest drugstore and bought the rose lounge, and I am in love with it. Very nice color and consistence. Even better than Essie ones. :)
