So I was reading The Times last Saturday and a journalist was waxing lyrical about a great new jumper she had got....in Zara kids.
It was a Breton stripe type of affair, fit beautifully, and was extremely well made. And it was just £10.99.
Said journalist also talked about how - until that Zara purchase - she could never understand those women who claimed they lived in nothing but Petit Bateau t-shirts....well I have a lot of Aged 16 Petit Bateau t-shirts (guilty as charged) and her article reminded me to investigate the "Kids" section of the Zara website.
Investigate I did!
I admit that I sort of ordered it on a whim. I have something like this from H&M but I don't think the quality is great so I never wear it. I was hoping that the Zara kids version would fit and feel good.
I have to say I am majorly impressed. I ordered aged 13-14 and its probably equivalent to an adult size 10. The arms are long and the jumper just ends mid-hip. All in all pretty perfect...except for the creases that is... :)

...paired with Zara (adults) blazer.
This jumper has now vanished from the site but there is a soft looking cardigan that is calling my name...Link!
It's good to find a bit of a bargain, isn't it :)
PS. On my nails I am wearing Butter London No More Waitey Katie...been wearing it all week :)

As well as getting a beautiful pair of Celine rip off sandals, complete with creamy beige leather and gold detailing, which I have been patiently waiting to come back in stock...
I got the Breton stripe jumper!

I've always been jealous of the Petit Bateau type girls, as I've been chased away from the kid's section around age 13 by my hum, boobs.
ReplyDeleteSo it's still a no no and that's too bad, because that jumper is really pretty, particularly when combined with that jacket in my opinion.
so jealous! I've been looking for a sweater with the exact same striped pattern for ages but can never find the perfect one! this one is just right... looks amazing on you with that black blazer :)
ReplyDelete@Musing on Beauty - finally a benefit for not having boobs! haha :)
ReplyDelete@Sandra - me too! I bought the H&M one because it was near enough but it just looked a bit...cheap. This definitely doesn't but has to be paired wit the blazer. I do feel a bit like a jolly sailor but I am embracing it :) haha
You have gotten so tiny! Loving the breton sweater, and the blazer, alas I doubt the kiddie section would fit me so well. I'm thinking 13 yr old is closer to size 8 (my daughters are 13/14).
ReplyDeleteReally enjoying your new blog, Laura!
@adele - good to see you here! :) thank you for following! x
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see you back blogging :) the sandals are a pretty stop on rip off job eh haha! And my motto to clothes if it fits who cares what size it is, sometimes the kiddies bit has the nicest clothes anyways xxx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous top! I love the breton tops- will be looking at the kids section in Zara next time I'm shopping!
ReplyDeleteLove that you're back blogging again!xx
Those sandals are amazingly spot on :)
ReplyDeleteMay have to check out Zara kids too - that store is getting it so right at the moment!
absolutely love the jumper - especially with the blazer, I love the nautical look! ps.. the name of that nail polish had me laughing lol!
ReplyDeleteI love the jumper, I just wish I could fit into a kids size 13/14, or any kids sizes for that matter. haha.
ReplyDeleteKatie
P.S I'm so glad that I found your blog again. Loving the shopping! x
Over the moon you're back! I've just read every post. Fantastic! Love the sandals - may need to purchase :D

I love that outfit combination! I have to say, I'm a bit ashamed that I didn't know you were blogging again, but I'm so glad you're back! <333
ReplyDeleteI would comment on how adorable the top is, but I'm too distracted by that black cocktail ring! Love, love it! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Laura! So glad you're back to blogging, I've missed you! Love the sandals in this post, gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI was reading some of your posts from last month, and I am OBSESSED with your Gucci sunglasses here, do you know the style/style number? I NEED in my life! :)

Love the Breton stripe top, about 90% of my wardrobe is stripes so need to check this out!
ReplyDelete@ Musing on Beauty : I am sure you can wear a Petit Bateau T-Shirt. I am a 95B/36B and I wear a size 18.
ReplyDelete@Laura : Here in France, those T-shirt are famous for keeping their initial color washes after washes.
I have owned some for more than 10 years and they look great. I think they are great basics.
I think the combination with that blazer looks very casual chic!
Regarding the blog thing, I gave it a try. Not sure it will interest but could be a nice getaway.
Laura! I was just reading Kelly's latest post (kelanjo.com) and she referenced your new blog. Its so good to see you back blogging - possibly not so great for my bank balance as you post such nice stuff I always want loads of it! You are looking amazingly well and happy...really lovely to see.
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree about Zara kids - I often pick things up for myself in there when I'm shopping for my kids. The occasional thing from Boden too, like ballet pumps.
Looking forward to reading much more here :) x
Lovely to see you are back! Shame for my wallet though;-)
ReplyDeleteI am literally running around screaming with happiness. It's quite worrying how much I love your posts. You just have a wonderful way of writing about something so trivial but making it so appealing haha! The jumper with blazer looks amazing :o

Woah Lolli!! I guess everybody knows now! I just found out in Twitter that the fact you are back is widely known!
ReplyDeletePeople are thrilled you are back :)
LOVE!
Mucho excited to see you back in the blogging world Laura, I'm sure everyone will be thrilled to read your blog posts once again!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat top is an excellent purchase, I'm sure you'll love it! I have a duplicate design from another brand and it's easily one of my most favourite pieces of clothing of all time!
Welcome back! :)
x
wow glad to see you blogging again sneaky girl, and are you engaged?! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Laura! I'm so glad you're back on blogger!!! All this time when there was a new Mac LE collection on the stores or a new foundation, I was like "hmmm what would lollipop26 think of it" :?
ReplyDeleteOk now I'll stop acting weird, much love and kisses from Greece!
xx
As a mere 5ft 3, with less than adequate leg lenth, the childrens section has always done me proud for well fitting jeans/trousers. Although I do worry that one day I'll bump into a 10 year old wearing the same!
ReplyDeleteSo pleased to see you back on the interwebs. Always been an avid reader and its lovely to 'hear your voice' so to speak!
xx
You made the month of June about 1000x better by just being back! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love that sweater, I would never think about something like that in the kids section, great find!
Also, is that an engagement ring I spy?
Great Post!!
ReplyDeleteI love the stripey top!
So glad you're back blogging again :) We missed you!
ReplyDeleteSo happy you are blogging again. We have all missed you. I'm looking forward to reading your posts. x
ReplyDeleteThat jumper/top was definitely a great find! I love having a bit of a rummage in the kids' section of shops. Always get sliiightly funny looks, but I tell myself I can pretend I'm shopping for a younger sister (who doesn't exist...) New Look often have the same item as the adults' section, but cheaper. As sales assistant in New Look told me that their age 12-13 in tops/jumpers etc is a size 10. Haven't ever looked properly in Zara kids, but I will now, thanks Laura! xxx
ReplyDeleteLike everyone else, I am so happy you are blogging again! You were the first Youtube makeup girl I came across after stumbling upon your original perfume collection video a few years ago. I've always loved your written blogs--you are awesome with words and content! The quality of your pictures this time around is notably better! You look amazing! Is it wrong of me to secretly hope that a new Youtube channel of yours pops up? ;) I just miss your voice!
ReplyDeleteZara is my latest obsession, I bought a breton top in adult section for more money but this kids one is an amazing fit on you and looks perfect with the blazer! x
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I have found your new blog, you were missed immensely! This one is much more sophisticated, I love your photos!
ReplyDeleteomg laura, the shoes are to die for! i just checked zara's website and i can't find them ! :( :( do u know why that is? xoxo

Hey lovely :) You look FAB! Only slightly jealous ;) What style/name is your Zara blazer? I've been after something like that for years but they never fit well enough :( Thanks, and so good to see you blogging again xxx
ReplyDeleteI love that blazer it is gorgeous! You look fantastic in these clothes :)

Would be great if you could check it out xx

ReplyDeleteAmazing sandals, by the way!
http://hermomentarymusings.blogspot.com/
Glad to see you're back blogging, you definitely kept this quiet, saw a tweet about the new blog and i was like where? What?! I used to shop in the kids section in H&M after style stalking someone around the shop, no VAT, yes please!
ReplyDeleteshopping at kids stores has always been my little (not so secret) secret. Brilliant way to save a little moula!
ReplyDeleteLOVE that sweater. I'll have to take a gander at the zara kids near me
Wow, I love these sandals! Excellent choice xx
ReplyDeleteBack-stalking a tad, I'm jealous of how adults can fit into kids clothing; I never did as child (they were always too big) and now I'm 17 and a size 8, they still are! x
