Another day, another maxi

So today I donned the usual SPF 50, sunglasses and maxi dress combo that is seriously becoming a habit.

This one I picked up from the shopbop.com sale and I have been looking forward to finally wearing it.

Link!

It's by Young Fabulous & Broke and has a tie-dye effect in white and cream.

I do love it but boy is this a proper maxi dress. There is a lot of fabric and much of it has swept the pavements of Dubai.

The hem is now bloody filthy.

I am also paranoid about tripping up so I have had to perfect a sort of kicking walk where I try and get the fabric out of the way before I step on it. I probably look like an idiot but I would rather that than tread on dress and expose self - especially in this neck of the woods.

Still I love the lightness of the colour and the sweetheart neckline which helps create a little boobage.

Dress: Young Fabulous & Broke (love the name of this brand!)
Shoes: New Look sandals (I think New Look shoes are pretty good quality you know, I have had these for 2 years and still going strong)
Bag: The eBay one (would have preferred to use something else but what are you going to do?)
Accessories: Watch Michael Kors (model 5055 - still love this watch the most), white wrap bracelet Hermes

Now I am off to lie on this beach....

...and read. I would like to say I am reading some sort of high brow book but in truth......it's...well it's The Carrie Diaries :)

Hope you are having a good day!

  1. ah love the dress! The Carrie Diaries is excellent too, a sort of twist or shock at the end as well.

  6. Wow, I love this dress! Especially the neckline, so pretty and feminine! I have never been a fan of maxi dresses but now I need at least one of them in my life. And it is all because of you. Happy now? :)
Also loved the hat, but could not post comments that day because blogger was sabotaging me. I also only wear hats on holiday abroad, big floppy hats and find that kind of hilariously awesome.

  9. First of all: I'm SO glad to read about you again!
But I'm wondering if you don't have any problems by wearing such dresses etc. in Dubai? Aren't there any restrictions because it's an arabic country? Don't get me wrong, don't stop wearing them. You look gorgeous :)

  10. Lovely dress! I love it in the black too...would look great with a little leather jacket on top.

I seem to have developed the maxi 'carry and walk' technique...works pretty well at stopping me tripping over, though I probably look like an absolute idiot carting half my dress in my hands :)

    ReplyDelete
  11. @Calu - not at all. of course if you have your arse hanging out of shorts you are going to get some looks but otherwise it's extremely liberal. remember its about 80% expatriate and the places I go are generally western....if I was going to Deira or a more conservative area like Mirdif I would make sure I wore a jacket all the time. just got to be mindful of where you are i guess :) having said that you do seem some shocking ensembles in the malls - crop tops and mini shorts with plenty of flesh spillage: that's indecent wherever you go in the world :)

@Jen - YES! That's what I was doing today: the kick walk and the hand carting...haha :) Glad I am not the only one!

  49. What a pretty dress!! Isn't Dubai just amazing! I've been there twice and had the best time! First time we went, people warned us to cover up at alll times...that people are really strict etc. however, when we got there, it actually wasn't that bad. As long you are respectful and don't have your bits hanging out you can pretty much wear everything. Love Dubai!! Hope you're having fun chick! xoxo
