ASOS Button Back Dress

A nice lunch calls for a nice dress.

Today I wore my button back dress from ASOS. I like it. It's tailored, flattering and it feels like a good quality item.

If I am honest however the very reason I bought this - for the buttons running the length of the dress - has undoubtedly become the element I like the least.

Call me paranoid but I am always worried about an errant button popping open/falling off and therefore exposing an arse cheek or two. Needless to say I wear full-on boy shorts in this number.

Apart from that minor (potentially emotionally damaging) issue it's a thumbs up.

This is one of those smart-ish type affairs that you could "dress up or dress down" and there is a lot of usefulness attached to that cliche. I have worn it for business and now I have worn it for pleasure :)

May I also say that I LOVE my new Topshop necklace...three draped strands. Simple yet lovely - at least to me :)

Dress: ASOS
Shoes: Topshop (model Gamble)
Necklace: Topshop (current season)
Sunglasses: Rayban Wayfarers
Watch: Michael Kors (model number as I always get asked this question - even after about 5 years :)  - 5055!)

Dress can be seen here...

Hope it's sunny where you are!

  1. That dress is lovely, and the coloring is great on you! It kind of reminds me of that green buttoned DVF dress Kate Middleton wore here in the US.

    Great shoes, too.

  7. Hahaha this made me laugh 'A cheek or two!' I always worry if a dress has a zip up the back or a skirt has a zip as some people find it hilarious on a night out to undo you! Lovely colour! Never bought anything off ASOS... xx

  14. You look lovely :) I love the dress but if u think you're uncomfortable with the bottom situation, maybe fix & close the ones from the waist down or in a place where you could still wear it but don't worry about accidents
The weather is also sunny and warm here in Montreal :) hope u have a great weekend xoxo

So glad you posted the necklace. I had one very similar from Topshop last year and was left bereft when it snapped. So glad I can toddle off and replace it tomorrow!

  36. Lovely all around!

The buttons would engulf me in paranoia though. It's bad enough when I wear a dress that even feels the tiniest bit too short. Doesn't matter if it actually is or isn't, either way I'm in for secreting myself away to double check.

Think it stems from the time I walked the streets of Tokyo with half a dress tucked into my tights.

  46. I am reading so many great things about ASOS!

That dress is gorgeous. I like the buttons best, too, and I would never have thought about one peacing out on your mid-wear!! That would most certainly be traumatic.

  48. I'm the same way! I get paranoid about buttons popping out when I wear certain types of shirts and dresses. yes, wearing shorts inside is wise for this one. This dress is so flattering on you! I love the color! I should get my clothes tailored more often. I love how you styled this dress esp with the long necklace to elongate and give shape. the dress is so classy and sophisticated on you!
