I almost went there with that joke about matching collar and cuffs....almost ;)
This was the real reason I popped into Urban Outfitters the other week - the aforementioned Cheap Monday tee made it's way into my hands but the visit was wholly motivated by this shirt.
By Sparkle & Fade, the in-house brand, it was only a matter of time before I got it. I saw it in store, then online, then in store again, and each time it stayed with me.
Why? Well...
* A pretty peach colour with detail that elevated it from the ordinary - leather collar and cuffs with contrasting button detail on both.
* Long enough to wear with leggings (bum is shielded by it's length) but also perfect for tucking in.
* And finally, can be worn all done up for maximum impact, or slightly undone for a less ironic take.
I just liked it... :)
I think next time I will wear it with my hair in a bun - to play up the collar - and skintight Acne jeans....maybe just a black bra as well. Daring I say! :)
This is where you can pick it up!
Link!
In other news...
* I have capitulated in the quest for Chanel Peridot. It irritates me more than you can imagine that it sold out on it's first day of release and now I am feeling like a petulent child. Yes okay I may look when I hit duty free before my flight tomorrow but I have no interest.....(liar!) Quartz I note is often the only one left behind...what do we think of that one? Nice or blah?
* I am halfway through reading Room by Emma Donoghue. If you remember the Fritzl case then it's based on that kind of scenario but what makes this different - and interesting - is that the narrative comes from the perspective of a 5 year old boy. There's an odd innocence about it that works to quell the horror and bring a completely different perspective. Looking forward to finishing it and then moving on to The Radleys....a grown up vampire story set in suburbia....which reminds me I have two episodes of True Blood/Alexander Skarsgard to get watching :)
Have a great Friday all - fingers crossed I have a very exciting post (for me) coming up this weekend :) Just you wait and see....

Love the contrast of the shirt - Sparkle and Fade are always one of those lines that takes me by surprise when I pop into Urban O.
ReplyDeleteSorcha x
Bonfire Brunette
Agreed, the contrast is so striking. I love urban outfitters, there are so many great finds in there! X
ReplyDeleteI love Quartz: I had the chance to choose, and I loved it. Leaving Peridot & Graphite.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend!
x
@Sorcha - this is the very reason I got it :) we love some unusual detail :)
ReplyDelete@Glitterish Allsorts - i know :) sometimes I see nothing and sometimes amazing things that you just wouldn't find in any other high street store :)
@Gyudy - ooh this is interesting. Quartz requires investigation! :)
Room is the most amazing book I've ever read. When I'd finished it it stayed with me for ages, even now I think about it. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteOh you big tease with the exciting post ;) The top is very pretty Miss L. x
ReplyDelete@Charlie - I have never read anything like it: in terms of the narrative. At one point I was literally gripped by the storyline...don't want to spoil it for anyone else but can probably guess the point where :)
ReplyDelete@MissisG - haha it's probably not that sounding for you lot but I cannot wait. :)
I'm well into contrasting colours at the moment, espesh the whole black and white thing that's going around at the moment, think the 60s, ahhh, I'm sure I was born in the wrong era! *Sigh*.

ReplyDeleteI liked quartz, but I swatched and it seemed awfully similar to OPI Glitzerland. I may still go back and purchase it though! Peridot left me cold...too green! Cardiff had two chanel counters with Peridot still in stock on Tuesday, you may still get one somewhere.
ReplyDeleteThat blouse looks really unique! I like it! :)
ReplyDeletenice blouse, looks very chic! :)

I Love that blouse it is so chic, the leather caff and collar OH I love the details :) my next book will be room already got it waiting for me to start it ;) have a great weekend and finger crossed for the exciting post xoxo
ReplyDelete@GeorgiaP - i have to say i loved your comment as it's the first "meh" review I have heard of peridot. If i have get my hands on it I will swatch first. Thanks!
ReplyDelete@LIparazzi - thanks Laura. ps. will reply to email this weekend!
@E V E L Y N - thanks evelyn! love it :)
@Mania - ooh the excitement :) haha
Love the shirt pretty yet toughened up with the leather.
ReplyDeleteNot too gone on any of the Chanel polishes thus time.
But Love the illusion d'ombre eyeshadows, have the black think will have to go back for epatant 2m:)
The SA at the Chanel counter said that only Graphite is LE so hopefully Peridot will be back in stock soon.
ReplyDeleteI love the details on the shirt that give it that bit of edge.
I've read Room! It's such an amazing book - you just wait for the rest! It's fascinating!
ReplyDeleteI love your shirt it's beautiful, the leather, oh just to die for!
I love your blog and have been following for a bit, I'd really appreciate if you could check my blog out and if you like it follow?
Thanks Bex X

I know exactly which bit you mean. I couldn't put the book down at that point! Brilliant x
ReplyDeleteHave you heard of 'Lolita' by Vladimir Nabokov? It's not a book for the faint hearted, but psychologically it's very interesting. Most of the people that start reading it give up before they reach half way, but if you're looking for a more daring novel then look it up!
ReplyDeleteLove the shirt by the way but I definitely can't pull of colours that bright!
Obsessed With Products - Thats my all time favourite book!
ReplyDelete@Daisychain - ooh that sounds gorgeous. i haven't properly looked at those. i don't spend so much money on eye products and am pretty much addicted to the Naked palette but always worth a look :)
ReplyDelete@Meeta - yay! but of course I want it nowwww! haha
@Rmw - can't wait to get reading now :)
@Obsessed with products - of course! read it quite a few years ago. i can see why people give up with it. the subject matter is just awkward and creepy.. :O You can definitely pull off this colour - its very soft and flattering :)
I love the shirt. I've wanted something with cuffs for a while but never found the right thing, thanks for showing! x
ReplyDeleteLove the shirt, thank God I didn't see it on my last trip to UO on Monday. Otherwise it would have caused packing issues. I saw Peridot in Heathrow Term 5 Duty Free (just 2 days ago) and have to say it's kind of blah. The colour is nice and all, but there are quite a few dupes out there. Additionally it will become regular, so don't panic too much;-) I went for Graphite, but also a bit blah in hindsight.
ReplyDeleteI love the peachy colour of the shirt but peach looks really horrible on me so I could never pull this off but you look amazing in it, jealous!!
ReplyDeleteI can never find anything I like from Urban Outfitters but I always love everything other people buy from it. I'm cursed.
Love sheer blouses at the moment, I have been on a spree for them. Can't wait for your next post:)
ReplyDeletelovely shirt & oooh I'm excited for the post! xox
ReplyDeletemakeuploverconfessions.blogspot.com
It looks way better on you than the model! I love the quirky black detailing, I just added some black leather to a pair of plain blue harems, they went from boring to designer in a few minutes, awesome with heels too! :D
ReplyDeleteLove a blouse or shirt with cuffs, love the contrasting style of this one, lovely colour too! x
ReplyDelete"bum is shielded by it's length" - SUCH an important factor! haha, i love the colour of this, so pretty and versatile! lovely outfit you've put together here! xx
ReplyDeleteIt's funny Laura...I'm on the hunt for a blouse like yours and you're on the hunt for Peridot(the polish currently on my nails). Nice ;)
ReplyDeletelove the shirt!! is it washable though? what with the leather and that xx
ReplyDeleteLove the top & your gold watch =)
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the top! Peachy and sheer = <3

ReplyDeleteLove your outfit Laura =)
ReplyDeleteI don't think Peridot is so hot too much HYPE for a green polish... I really like Graphite!
http://delightlifeandstyle.blogspot.com/
Love the shirt!
ReplyDeleteoh no i will miss the big news as I'm going for holiday this weekend grrr... the blouse is awesome. take care xo
ReplyDeletenot a huge fan of shirts but i like this one, very original :)
ReplyDeleteI have to say Quartz was the first one which sold out at the two chanel counters I usualy go.
ReplyDeleteLove the shirt especially the cover-bum aspect. I much prefer transitional outfits. A book I reccommend based on your write up is a book called "the incident of the dog in the nighttime" Its from a perspective of an autistic 10 year old boy. This gave me a greater understanding when I was younger and I now work with children with autism. Its only a little book so youd read it quickly.

ReplyDeletewww.missmathful.blogspot.com
oh no! i clicked on that link and was transported to urban outfitters...... a huge basket full later!! damn!
ReplyDeleteblouse is a beaut though.
http://keepcalmandbookworm.blogspot.com/
Lovely shirt, colar and cuffs are a good look on you. We finished watching True Blood last week, I want Sookie and Eric to get it on so bad! haha x x
ReplyDeleteReally really <3 this. But cannot justify it having already spent a small fortune on UO sale.. Dammit.. x
ReplyDeleteI tried on the Peridot and I have to say it didn't make me want to wear it over and over. I actually was done it after just one day. Now the Quartz on the other hand feels like I will want to wear again and again, not just this season. It somehow feels less "just-blindly-getting-whichever-new-color-chanel-spews-out" WhichI have to admit is what I have done every season and I am trying to quit:)
ReplyDeleteLaura, you`re a pure inspiration for me!
ReplyDeleteThis whole outfit is perfection, I love it! I always think I'm not going to like anything in UO, but always leave with something!
