Today is a bit of a write off. I got my hair done. I met a friend. I had three glasses of red wine over a 3 hour lunch and then had to retire for a nana nap. Shame.
Before I drunk myself sleepy this is what I wore....another stalwart item from my wardrobe. This dress never gets old :)
Apologies - just one photo as I felt embarrassed to request a full-on shoot from my friend. She was slightly bemused by the whole concept as it was :)
Dress: Cheap Monday
Belt: American Apparel
Bag: Miu Miu
Shoes: Kurt Geiger (although you can barely see but they are pretty diamante sandals I got in the ASOS sale)
Sunglasses: Gucci
Now the hair?
I am very happy. It's a nice rich, neutral brown but to make it a bit more interesting my stylist added some flashes of highlights along the underside.

It was just 5 or 6 foils in total but it just adds "enough" to break up the colour. I really like the effect of this and quite like the tone of the blonde too...mmm wonder what this would be like littered all over? :)
For anyone in Dubai I go to JetSet in JBR and the stylist is called Elena.
(PS. It looks shorter in the above picture but I think this is a combination of the styling and the fact that most of it was at the front....rest assured: no scissors came anywhere near me :)
To wrap up...
Some other musings that I think require sharing:
* Dermalogica Dermal Clay Cleanser is the new Liz Earle - I started using this by accident and now I think I am hooked. I have even bought the mahoosive/salon size bottle - that's how much I like it. If you suffer from the oilies (and here I suffer a lot!) then this is your salvation. I don't find it drying - I find it effective in cleansing and neutralising the oil production. Pair it with a muslin cloth and it's happy skin days
* Sleek Peach Perfection remains my favourite lip product - I have just used up my first container and I will start working my way through the back-up. I like Bare Minimum too but Peach Perfection is holy grail material. In fact lets not beat around the bush - it is holy grail. Just deal with the slightly weird metallic aftertaste and appreciate the colour.
* My next make up purchases will be... - Make Up For Ever Smokey Lash and Make Up For Ever Waterproof Eyebrow Protector. I am trying to be "good" though and use up Lancome Doll Eyes before I buy anything else...I literally cannot wait until this sucker dries up but annoyingly it seems to be lasting quite a long time - probably the only good thing I can say about it.
Okay, that's enough rambling for now :) I will just close with some pictures of my lunch - I always salivate over people's pictures of food and today I had sweet potato fries for the first time in months so I felt it was worth a share! So yummy!
Hope you have a lovely Saturday everyone!

ReplyDelete@GlitterRain - just to Le Royal Meridien. Okay for casual lunching :)
ReplyDeleteFood looks amazing and nobody can blame you for the three glasses of red on a Saturday lunchtime. It's allowed! I've loved that dress since you first posted about it and if the weather wasn't so dire over here right now I'd be all over eBay hunting it down. Maybe for next summer though? x
ReplyDeleteI love the dress and the food looks delicious! :) xxx
ReplyDeleteahhh okay....one at airport? I'm at the other one at marina most days for beach/pool hehe. dress is lovely btw. xx
ReplyDeleteYou look pretty on your outfit. Plus you've got a great hair color!!! I like the highlight surprise on your hair. Really pretty and breaks the solid color in a subtle way. :)

Hello, Sorry to be a huge bug but where's your lovely watch from? You've been wearing it in a lot of your recent posts, silver with the gold stripe through the strap!
ReplyDeleteThanks
x
Your hair colour looks great, very shiny and healthy looking!
ReplyDeleteLove this dress, it's so classic, and your hair looks gorgeous!!
ReplyDeletelovely dress :) wine at lunch time comes with a nap :) it's a must ;) I love your new hair color so rich and nice touch of highlight. if you want to keep the warmth in the color, you could use Aveda conditioner, since I have the same color and after a while it kinda loose its richness :) have a nice day xxx
ReplyDeleteAh this post is making me want my hair colored ASAP! I haven't had a professional coloring in at least a year and a half (was pregnant, had a baby, etc.). I've been doing box dyes in this time and it's catching up to me. I have medium/darkish brown hair and am thinking maybe darker warmer brown with reddish highlights on my shoulder-length hair. Hmm. Lots to think about. Love your posts!
ReplyDeletegreat post! Believe it or not I've never colored my hair before! I kind of want to add golden highlights, but seeing as how we're coming on winter I may wait until spring.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your blog L!
ReplyDeleteyummyyyyyy! Food looks amazing :) and so do you!

ReplyDeleteYou have just convinced me to add Peach Perfection back on my UK shopping list. Boyfriend is working in Aberdeen next week and have kindly agreed to go beauty shopping for me. :) The list is getting quite lengthy! Feel free to throw in other worthy suggestions! xx @arachelsays

ReplyDeleteYou look lovely as always. I tried the Sleek pout polish after you recommended it and I feel that Bare Minimum is my holy grail! With you on the manky taste tho. X
ReplyDeleteI had my hair cut and coloured yesterday and my colour is very similar to yours. I was planning to just get an all over colour but decided to get a few foils too and I'm so glad I did. Love the bag and dress together.
ReplyDeleteI love your hair - your stylist did a great job! :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Laura! Your hair looks just PERFECT!!! Congratulations!! I would like to know if you have tried Kiehl's Rare Earth deep pore daily cleanser. It is working very well for me but I'd like to know if the dermalogica is better than that. I have loved everything I have bought following your advices. Thank you.
ReplyDeletesaludos desde España!
oooo Are those sweet potatoe fries!? haha sorry I did notice your lovely new hair first I promise. I did actually think you cut it shorter in the first picture as well :')

ReplyDeleteYour hair looks amazing, love the contrast of the ashy blonde highlights against the rich brown!!! Your hair stylist totally nailed it! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this dress, it really looks good on u. And your new hair color is great! I'm just experimenting with these shades of brown myself......I'm making the hard black to brownish transition trying to save my hair from burning
ReplyDeleteLove the hair!!! I just love the contrast that the highlights bring and the dimension they add to the style. I also love nana naps, I should try integrate them more often in my routine.
ReplyDeleteLaura!!!!!!! I just wrote a blogpost on my new MIU MIU BOW BAG!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would be great if you'd check it out!!!
ReplyDeletejust bought that dress from ASOS.
ReplyDeleteYou look like a moooviestar! :D
ReplyDeleteLove the hair! But re. Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash - don't do it!!!!! I was disappointed and found it clumpy, smudgy and flakey. I didn't even bother to finish the tube :-/
ReplyDeleteSounds like a good day to me! I love that dress, very flattering shape, and your hair looks fab, the flashes of highlights really work!

I love Makeup Forever Smokey Lash - but it dries out SO quickly. You'll know it's done when it starts to flake...which unfortunately will be a month later.
ReplyDeleteYour updates are always nice to read Laura! You look fabulous Food looks lush. Need to try the sleek out!! Note to self!

Always love you in this grey dress, simple and chic! I've just bought mufe smokey lash mascara from paris, I'm loving it but not as much as my chanel one, definitely worth buying though! x
ReplyDeleteEverytime I see your new Miu Miu bag I literally think about it for hours! Must.Convince.Myself.Not.To.Buy! Aghhhh!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I love your dress and I know exactly what you mean about asking friends to take OOTD pictures for you, sometimes it can be so awkward and you feel like such a pain asking them to take photos!

i still just can't get over the purse. it goes so well with absolutely everything!
ReplyDeleteooo would love to try the cleanser, sounds right up my street. loving the hair :D

Smokey lash is a pretty amazing mascara, it lengthens and thickens the lashes nicely, but was disappointed by how quickly it dried out. I'm like you, love layering mascara up to the max! :) I definitely recommend the Bourjois Rotating mascara, the rotating brush thing is a bit of a gimmick, but the mascara itself has really impressed me! xo
ReplyDeleteI love your Purse and Hair! You have such great style!!

Hello Laura!
ReplyDeleteFirst off I love your blog and your style. I have had a bit of a hair deboccle myself- blonde to dark brown and I have been trying to get hte concept of dark brown hair with blonde streaks like you have shown above....and my hair either gets dyed an all over 'mouse' look or the blonde is barely noticeable. I am wondering do you have thick or fine hair? Mine is thick so I am wondering perhaps that is why it isn't visible. Also- what is it you asked for when you went to the hairdresser? Sorry for the question overload- I have been trying to get that exact look for the past 6 months and after various boxed dye botch-ups and trips to the hairdresser I am exhausted.

Your hair looks amazing! I kind of finally accepted that my hair cut will never look as yours lol :)
ReplyDeleteHi Laura, Could you please do me a big favour and point me in the direction of a good eyebrow pencil? Something which would be effective for patchy, spartan, generally pathetic eyebrows in need of definition? I'd be super grateful :)
ReplyDeleteSmokey lash is my fave product for my lashes ! I totally love it ! Your hair is so beautiful and your blog is awesome. I am gonna check it everyday from now on ! Following :) Kisses

ReplyDeleteThe designs are many, particularly cheap prada handbags clutch-styled purses, satchel handbags, totes, shoulder handbags, etc. The chanel bag online are simply spectacular and grant women the luxury feeling she desires, chiefly allowing hermes handbags online to value her choice in style. These are quite expensive, but some louis vuitton outlet online offer low-priced selections, but much contemplation is necessary to pick the right manufacturer to buy a decent omega watches for sale
