So there I was, getting my mani and pedi on at Tips and Toes in JBR and the technician asked me what colour I wanted on my nails.
We all know that when it comes to Gelish I play it safe...a two week commitment requires some considered thought. This time I went safer than safe. I went for a French.
It's been a long time since I sported this look and whilst it's very "done" and generic, I cannot deny that I like it's polished appearance. Playing it safe has never felt so good :)

The Perfume Project
I am also secretly quite pleased to have used up a couple of perfumes - Tom Ford's Black Orchid and Balenciaga...whilst they are fantastic fragrances I have only two left here in Dubai...Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy and Gucci's Flora...
This is comforting because:
a) It doesn't make me feel like such an intense hoarder :) and
b) I know that by Christmas I will be fully justified in my purchase of Hermes Ambre Narguile - Merry Christmas Laura, Lots of Love Laura
You know what the funny thing is about this "project"? I have never even so much as sniffed Ambre Narguile - I just know that I will love it :) I hope after all this effort I am right :)
What's your next perfume purchase?

What's your next perfume purchase?

I need my next perfume purchase to be for my wedding. I am unsure whether to go for a old favourite or try something new but something that still smells like me.
ReplyDeleteI guess i'm out of the loop. You're engaged? x
ReplyDeleteI just got Jennifer Aniston's perfume over the last weekend. I love that stuff! I got a Prada Candy sample so that might be next around the holidays!
ReplyDeleteYour nails look so pretty and classic.
ReplyDeletexo
very nice perfumes Laura. I am currently waiting for L'occitane's new perfume Delice des Fleurs. It's a very lovely scent, mix with vanilla, strawberry as what the saleslady told me :) They are going to showcase it on the 26th :) I can't get the scent off my mind :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful ring on your engagement finger..you know we're all gonna ask?!!
ReplyDeletealso loving the nails....my next perfume will be Jimmy Choo...suprisingly pretty. But not until my current perfume stash shrinks slightly!! xxx
I have 13 (yes 13) bottles of perfume to use up... I am obsessed... Although my next one is Vera Wang. Not sure which one yet though!?!?! x
ReplyDeleteI think i need to use up some of the perfumes in my store :/ They see to be mounting up. DKNY Golden delicious is my latest love! x
ReplyDeleteI just bought Hermes Ambre Narguile last weekend,I am in love, so I don't know what I will be buying next :) have a wonderful week Laura x
ReplyDeleteI need to get a Lady Million, beautiful! I wore it for weeks on end this time last year. I think it has got to be my Autumn signature! Also, want VIP 212 and some Shalimer. I love perfume!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous nails, makes me want to go and get mine done! What a lovely engagement ring too, congratulations pet x
ReplyDeleteI'm plotting my next perfume purchase as well. I'm leaning towards Prada Candy, but I'm running out of my beloved Prada d'Iris, so not sure if I will go with a replacement or a new fragrance --- or both :)
ReplyDeletecongrats about finishing the perfumes! I can never seem to finish mine . . . I'm a huge Tom Ford Black Orchid fan too!
ReplyDeleteLaura! I didnt know you were engaged/married. I must have been living in a hole.
ReplyDeleteI really would love to have Gucci Flora, so that will be my next purchase, and hopefully it'll be worth it?!

xx
As much as I love all my nail polishes, I have a thing for a simple french manicure too!
ReplyDeletePs. Love the ring ;)
I never seem to use up perfumes - maybe because I always buy the big bottles to start with in the hope that I won't run out. This always leaves me feeling guilty when I decide to buy a different perfume all together.
ReplyDeleteMy next perfume purchase is going to be this time a 30ml bottle of the stunning Stella Nude. LOVE! Hopefully I will use all of it and feel very very pleased with myself.
xx
I love how you just assume that you'll like the fragrance... You must have a lot of faith in the brand ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to get the new Jimmy Choo perfume as I loved the original... hope it doesn't disappoint x
I adore Viktor and Rolf, Flowerbomb. I've just been given another bottle from a lovely friend! Such a beautiful scent.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful rings... especially the one on your left hand ;) Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteMine will be Molecule 01, bloody expensive but can't stop thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteIs this engagment ring Laura :)? Please say so :)! haha
nails are perfect ! take care XO
You can't beat a French polish - and you can always get away with one at work, which is great. Those perfumes look lovely, such stylish bottles x
ReplyDeleteFrench polish is classic, it's always nice to revert back to it every now and then :)
ReplyDeleteNice rings, and nothing beats the feeling when you finish a product.

Once again I am coveting the Sydney Evan Love ring.... but it's so pricey for pave... would you recommend? Do I need it in my life? xxx
ReplyDeleteperfect nails!
ReplyDeleteSTYLE DECORUM
I love a French manicure sometimes too, just looks very polished and put together. The next perfume I am after is, well apart from Chanel Coco Madamemoiselle (I ran out months ago :( ) is Tom Ford Black Orchid! I have wanted it for ages, hopefully Santa gets my list and buys it for me ;) x
ReplyDeleteIt may be "generic" but your nails look beautiful. I really prefer a French done with a very thin white tip like you have here. The super thick ones always look tacky.
ReplyDeleteSorcha x
Bonfire Brunette
I really love Gucci Flora! I have the Eau de Parfum and I get tons of compliments on it. Though for Winter I will be wearing Dolce & Gabana's The One - sweet and sultry!
ReplyDeletea classy mani never looks generic :) x
ReplyDeletehttp://wewereraisedbywolves.blogspot.com/
Did you know there's a new Tom Ford fragrance out, 'Violet Blonde'?
ReplyDeleteI love Gucci Flora! :) My next purchase - Marc Jacobs Daisy! - absolutely love it.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I love the neatness and the girlyness of a french manicure, makes me feel so polished and well-groomed
ReplyDeletewishfulsinfulyou.blogspot.com
persuaded me to get a french! looks gorgeous! and my per-fect scent is DKNY fresh blossom, just HAVE to get the 100ml for Christmas, never dedicated so much for a single perfume! :D x
ReplyDeleteI have heard a sneaky rumour that Louis Vuitton are now creating a perfume, I'm not sure what it will be like, but I'm definitely intrigued!
ReplyDeleteLove the nails, I like that look so classy! Would you recommend the gelish?x
LAURA!!! You are engaged?? A big congrats! :) Sorry I noticed the rock instead of the mani ;) can you blame me??
ReplyDeleteI actually thought I would love Hermes Ambre Narguile based on the notes it has but when I had a sniff of it in Harrods a few week ago I can't say I loved it or liked it for that matter, mind you I didn't spray myself with it which I should have.
ReplyDeleteHi Laura! Looove your nails! So classy!
ReplyDeleteI'm going through a sweet perfume phase at the moment... So I'm thinking about Givenchi's Play Intense. I also fell in love with Coco Mademoiselle (so sexy!) and really really like Miss Dior Cheri L´Eau, it's a little bit sweeter than the original... Maybe Miss Dior Cherie L´Eau is the winner!
xo
You are so gorgeous. Love your style and blog so much. Please follow my blog...

I'd love to get the Jo Malone Blue Bell! And I have yet to finish a perfume =X
ReplyDeleteright now i'm a bit obsessed with flower by kenzo, seems to work well with my skin. still in love with jo malone oud and bergamot though but that's hard to find at the moment for me :(
ReplyDeleteI might go for french for my gel manicure. Totally agree with you! And I just bought a small roller ball of Boyfriend -- yes, this eliminates the really nice bottles of getting a new perfume, but at least I'll have a chance of using it up!
ReplyDeletePerhaps Vera Wang Preppy Princess (don't laugh) ! :P Also I love the french look, did you take those pics via instagram?
ReplyDeleteI got sucked in and bought the Burberry Body Intense at duty free.
ReplyDeleteOn first spray, it was a bit... Intense. The scent developed nicely after though :)
Well, there were a few that i had wanted and have been sidetracked. these few were YSL's parisienne, and more recently marc jacob's eau so fresh (nice fragrance, nice bottle). but then somehow i got sidetracked from those again, and just two weeks ago i bought jimmy choo. sweet as...!
ReplyDeleteThis evening I bought Cartier's Baiser Volé and Elie Saab Le Parfum even though I'm supposed to be on a perfume no-buy. These scents were just too beautiful to leave behind in Sephora. The Elia Saab takes a while to move on from the heavy honey opening, but it's worth sticking it out as the drydown is quite unexpected..
ReplyDeleteI purchased a large bottle of Jimmy Choo & I must say I LOVE IT!! It smells so sweet & amazing. I usually wear Lancome Poeme & John Paul Gaultier & those have been my "go to" scents until I discovered Jimmy Choo
ReplyDelete:)
Playing it safe - Victor and Rolf Flowerbomb is just my signature fragrance and it probably always will be. Although, i think Im ready for a little bit of Angel for nighttimes, its so much heavier and more sexy.. I did smell some of benefit's perfumes in boots the other day and they really arent bad?! Perhaps, perhaps! Am definitely for the french fingerlook, having mine done next week woop!
ReplyDeletehttp://prettyaesthetics.blogspot.com/
I really wanna get Miss Dior Cherie!!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.shellzdoll.com/
What a lovely engagement ring!!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty nails =] whenever I get a colour that isn't so classic the novetly soon wears off when my nails don't match my outfits, so this time I got pale pink.
ReplyDeleteMy next perfume will be Miss Dior Cherie which I'm getting for my birthday.
You should check out Prada Candy, if you haven't already. It smells a bit sweet and girly mixed with sophisticated lady..right good for landing a husband! hahaha I love the Gelish nails and the french is perfect on you...so natural.
ReplyDelete(flips hair and heads off for Gelish french mani)
love the mani, i do like a good french, although french on toes freaks me out, i dont know why... and congrats on the other thing... (obviously i mean the perfume) ;)
ReplyDeletewww.missmathful.blogspot.com
prada candy is going to be my next purchase!

I received my signature scent on Monday for my birthday. Coco Chanel. Always go back to it no matter what other perfumes I try. I can tell you a perfume I don't like though, Flower Bomb by Viktor & Ralph :s
ReplyDeleteYou've gotta love a french mani, Laura, requires no thought or "matching" I have to say your manicure looks particularly good, I prefer shorter nails as opposed to talons!! :D xx
your nails look so pretty. i love short nailsand french mani!! :) btw i must ask: are you engaged love? :))) Also i just wanna say i'm so happy you are back in the blogger community (i recently found out you have a new blog lol)i really hope you will come back to YouTube as well! miss your videos! :)

Wow congrats on the engagement, ring is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove a simple french manicure.
Lusting after the new no 19 by Chanel smells of oranges and baby talc just yummy ;)
Hey Laura,
ReplyDeleteI think you will love Ambre Narguile - it is one of my all time top ten! And I am a fiend for perfume :) I just bought a bottle of Givenchy Organza Indecence, a lovely but discountinued vanilla amber. I don't think you should feel like you have to finish up perfume before you buy more, but that's just me - I'm an avid collector. I prefer small bottles, decants, and tons of samples so I can match my perfume to my mood and the season.
i love a classic french tip. it's a very clean and put together look. :)

ReplyDeleteI'm a hoarder of perfumes. I absolutely love Flora by Gucci it's one of my absolute favs. Not sure what my next one will be either Vince Camuto, Candy by Prada, Body by Burberry, or Truly Pink by Vera Wang (this has been out for years, smelled a sample of it years ago and saw at Sephora recently and fell in love again).
ReplyDeleteMy next perfume will definitely be Guilty by Gucci. Mandarin, lilac, peach, pink pepper and just a touch of patchouli - so perfect =)
ReplyDeleteI love the gelish look. Acrylics have absolutely destroyed my nails. Gelish look really natural. May have to look to find a salon that does them near me!
ReplyDeletex
love your nails!!
ReplyDeleteLaura, YOU'RE ENGAGED! CONGRATULATIONS! The ring is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you.

I'm thinking Twirl by Kate Spade. But I've been trying to find the Balenciaga perfume to try out! It might be on the list too if I like it :)
ReplyDeleteI just bought Prada Candy, it's so yummy. I was thorn between Candy and Burberry Body, now I am so happy that I went with Prada.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, your nails are not generic! Classic, chic, anything but generic! Personally, I think that the term "generic" can only apply to a French manicure when the nails are:
ReplyDelete1- Long, and I mean about the length of a false nail before you trim it!
2- Square cut, or more commonly "squoval"
It used to be look attractive, but then again so did Katie Price, who I'm pretty sure has the generic nails!
Uber jealous of your perfume collection!
Nat x
Very stylish!

Lovely mani!
ReplyDeleteCould you perhaps do some sort of perfume collection post some time? Would love to see what fragrances you've got on hand :)
i want to get back to gucci rush such a classic
ReplyDeleteyou once said 'perfume is a religion', i cant agree more laura! my perfume collection is growing like crazy and i just cant stop it, i have been trying to get my hand on Spiritueuse Double Vanille, but no luck yet:(
ReplyDeletebtw i so much want to say congratulations but im not sure to say it or not:) should i? :)))
Your nails look gorgeous and so polished and chic :) I love Black Orchid too.
ReplyDeleteI just won a years supply of perfume so I have 6 bottles winging there way towards me! x
ReplyDeleteHave been follwing you since your YouTube days and now I am so happy to see yu have a blog!!
ReplyDeletePossible wedding fashions in the future? :) I would love to hear your thoughts on dress designers as I may be in the position to buy a dress very soon. ;)
Congrats!
I love a French manicure. Very polished and chic but only on short nails. Was just given Tocca Florence and it is divine. It smells quite like Michael Kors Michael. I've never heard you comment on that perfume so I'm not sure if you like that kind of thing, but for me it is perfection.

I am down to the last drop of my Vera Wang Princess but I still have most of my Viva La Juicy and Flower Bomb fragrances left. Prada Candy is my next purchase.
