Joining the bunny brigade!

Hello from Bangkok!

Cue smiley face :)

Yes, I am on holiday here for about 10 days and it's so new and exciting. I have never been to Thailand before and the chaos and colour provided on the streets feels weirdly refreshing.

I should also say that the shopping is incredible. I haven't actually bought a lot but it's more the window-shopping element that I have really enjoyed so far.

Today I hit up MBK - a multi-level shopping mall full of little stalls that are packed with everything you could possibly - and possibly not - want. Clothes, trinkets and technology. It felt like a huge colourful bazaar.

My mission!

Of course I bypassed all of this and went straight to the floor dedicated to phone accessories. I was a woman on a mission you see - I was a woman in search of bunny ears!

Yes, just like countless other bloggers and "real life" people, I have jumped on the Rabito bandwagon and picked up the iPhone cover.

The story behind Rabito is quite cool. The creator was working as a User Interface Designer - similar field to myself actually - and just came up with this idea, featured it at a trade show with little to no intention of success and found herself getting huge orders from retailers across Asia.

No surprise. It's fun and functional. The fluffy tail actually serves a purpose - you can wrap your headphones round it and it will also prop up the iPhone, useful during FaceTime. It's also surprisingly easy to find in a large handbag - the tail and ears make it very distinguishable from the other trash you carry around.

So yeah. I had to have it. And I got it in black.

I am a little sad that it's not the real deal - very much an inspired version (I paid about £3!) and in honour of the cuteness of concept I am still going to try and get my hands on the real deal....

But here is my iPhone cover...for now :)

You can buy Rabito - or Rabito inspired iPhone covers -  in Bangkok (useful to know right? ;), Harrods (Link! although it you live outside of Europe DO NOT BOTHER as it will cost you £30 in shipping) and it is also available on good old Amazon where dozens of retailers are selling a version of it. (Link!)

In a way it's a shame that this phone is my personal - as oppose to professional - one. I would sort of love to pull this out in a meeting or in the office and see the faces of (mostly male) colleagues look on, in a mixture of wonderment and confusion.

Either way I have to say that I am happy to join the bunny ears brigade :)

PS. I have photos from the Grand Prix - do people want to see that or should I just skip to an outfit post? Don't want to bore the majority senseless with close up pictures of cars :) LMK!

  4. @Opheeee - thank you! it's been great so far.

@Sian - haha good to know! if everyone agrees then I will keep them for my eyes only.

@Sayuko - it's a shame they only do it for iphone (I think) :( There are lots of cute covers for other phones though. Amazon and ebay are your friends :)

  12. Those cases are adorable! Also would love to see some F1 photos, my dad got me watching it from an early age so are a massive fan now. Was such a shame Button had trouble with his KERS system, but suppose 3rd was still good :)

  14. I've been traveling around SE Asia for 2 months now and I am obsessed with MBK! Will be returning there tomorrow and I'm so excited to properly look around, first time we were there it was the start of the trip so didn't want to weigh down my backpack too much! Also, did you go to Sizzler (haha) best salad bar in the world!!! xx

  15. @Essjay23x - its a maze of a city. Reminds me a little of Japan in some ways but its so much more chaotic. Loving it :)

@Hol-lee - you are the first vote in favour so will keep that in mind! I was so happy he got 3rd as it looked like Webber was going to beat him...I celebrate any kind of Jenson success :)

@Char - ah i know. they should do them for every device!

  16. Nice! I want an iphone, I hate my BB now. I have also got a kimono cardi like that, but from Wallis. How uncool am I? :D

    ReplyDelete
  17. @Aisling - ooh really? They have Sizzler in Dubai so may have to check it out. I am also feeling a need to go back. I went round all the Siam malls today and nothing has the energy or interest of MBK. Want to buy one of those funky umbrellas too :) Maybe I will see you there! :)

  18. I would love to see pictures from the Grand Prix. I really want to see it live someday!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I would get the cover if it wasn't for the tail, my iPhone usually sits in my pocket otherwise I have mini panic attack so the tail wouldn't be able to fit. Sucks because it's so cute.

Ooh Grand Prix pictures please!! I'm really jealous of you going, I was volunteering the day it was on so I didn't even get to watch it. Karma better be nice to me because of that.

    ReplyDelete
  20. @TheHumanWreckage - really hope you see this as you can take the tail off - it's optional!

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Chrissy - okay cool! may combine some pics with an outfit post to keep everyone happy :)

Pink buses & taxis, so cute! Love the phone cover too!
Do you mind me asking if it's cheap to holiday there? hotels etc? I went to Hong Kong last year & loved it and am hoping to go to China nxt year but didn't think about Bangkok! would love to hear your thoughts :) x

  31. I love the pink taxis! I can't make my mind up whether I want a Rabito cover, sometimes I love them but then I think they are a bit silly, but there's no denying they are cute!

    ReplyDelete
  32. @AllieUK - thanks Allie! So many of my friends went here during their gap years but I missed out...trying to make up for it now :)

@Eve Maria - well in that case....haha will have to post to make him jealous :)

@glamour rouge - definitely cheap! i am staying in a v. nice hotel and it's substantially less than what i would pay in Middle east/europe/America. Of course you can get ripped off if you are not careful but the levels of luxury are pretty high. Would love to go to Hong Kong!

@Laura - i think you should just go for it :) it's so fun! :)

  33. Amazing photography, Laura! I love the pink buses & taxis for sure, but that Rabito steals the show! Very cute!

  34. love the phone cover (been stalking them on the interwebz for a while now), and the photos of Bangkok are stunning so far. it's on my long list of places to visit :) hope you have an amazing holiday, I look forward to the upcoming posts - F1 included.

  35. @((hugs)) - Your BFF! - haha I know! I love the bunny ears :) Can't stop looking at it :)

@Sandra - I bloody agree! I think some sort of New York meet up should be formally scheduled for next year!

    ReplyDelete
  36. since you twitted about this cover i fell in love with it!! they also make it for samsung galaxy sII (i think). I'd take the white one, but i don't know how practical it is, i'm afraid i could break the ears or something like that.. and i don't think you can put it in a pocket, right? that's a pity! Oh and i wonder if it gets dirty easily.. but i love it anyway!

As for the phone case, I think they're super cute but living in Korea everyone has them here! Bears too! It kind of takes the coolness out of them a bit when you see them all over the place.
