It's pathetic to admit but this top is something like nirvana for me.
Yes, a top is my nirvana ;)
It's key features - and my love for them - are well documented. It just ticks all the boxes. A cute collar and a gentle scalloped edge at the base. It's light, sheer, pretty and perfect for a casual, slouchy day.
This is yet another TRF find from the Zara binge conducted last week. Honestly, even the act of writing out TRF is pi**ing me off and I will try very hard from now on to diversify the brands a little bit but unfortunately there is one more stellar item to share....be patient, we will get there :)
I wore the top with jeans, boots and tied my hair back into a low knot. I always think a Peter Pan collar calls for a slightly androgynous hairdo.
Either that or I just couldn't be bothered to use any heat tools on it. You decide :)
Top: T-R-bloody-F - Link! (I think they must have photo-shopped out the model's nipples which makes me chuckle)
Body: American Apparel
Jeans: Cheap Monday - Link!
Makeup: Same as always
Perfume: Gucci Flora
A word on the jeans
When I first got these - via ASOS - I hated them. The denim felt like that cheap, material type stuff that makes me cringe. Over time though my attitude has changed. They are so comfortable, flattering and the high waist is a revelation - how tremendous to sit down and not even have to consider the arse-crack-reveal dilemma. I am smitten. I paid full price but they are now on sale...always the way!
Cannot wait for this weekend. Gelish manicure, beach-side drinks, catching up with the ri-dick-ulous (tee hee) Real Housewives, Xmas shopping and some serious reading. I have just started Born to Run by Chris McDougall (as recommended to me by one of you :) so I will let you know how that goes - any other literary suggestions absolutely welcome!
xx

I love that neckline and collar! So classic and understated.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, high waisted jeans are so liberating. :)
Oh I'm the same Laura, any top with a collar is an absolute winner for me! My boyfriend bought me a beaut of a collar top from the TRF bit in Zara last week for my Christmas, I told him I liked it so he bought it there and then, I don't go snooping through my presents just so you know! This is a gorgeous look, you look lovely as always! x
ReplyDeleteI adore your top! I am a fan of the peter pan collars as well :) So cute!

The material of that top looks so amazing for a TRF item! (yes, i feel the same way about trf as you do, dont we all?).
ReplyDeleteaaand your hair up like that makes me wish i had more layers that i could fake "shorter" hair.
x
@Dorothy A - they really are! that's the perfect word to describe it :) haha
ReplyDelete@Corrie - i used to be a snooper if i am honest :) heehee. Thanks so much! A collar is always a winner.
@Chic in Vanity - you really cannot go wrong! :)
So jealous you can wear a high neck like that, I always look HUGE when I wear tops like that cause of my boobs! Real housewives is getting insane, I cant believe they're showing so much of russel when they know whats coming, its surreal x
ReplyDeleteI always have literary suggestions on my blog! http://keepcalmandbookworm.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteYey this top makes me happy because although I'm not allowed to shop until after christmas, all your beaut buys make me excited for when i can.
AND you look amazing... as always.
aww its really cute, i went to zara today, but i didn't spot this treasure! beach-side drinks sounds good right now...i miss the heat of summer.

I'm always a little iffy about the Peter Pan collar, but this looks really cute! And the lip color you're wearing suits you so well! :)
ReplyDeleteIf you ever fancy having your hair cut shorter I'd say go for it. Your hair would look amazing in a chic bob! :D xx
ReplyDeletei love this shirt! hmm i wonder how it would look if it were tucked in? hehe
ReplyDeletexoxo
Rosie Anna
Shirt is so cute! I was too wondering how it would looked tucked in :] i think it would look amazing :] and your hair short, would look really awesome! Have you ever had your hair short?
ReplyDelete@Rosie Anna @Naara - i couldn't do that! would hide the scalloped edges :) haha I have also had my hair short many times and...never again :) I was miserable!
ReplyDeleteReally like the top, it's flattering-bagginess which is always good for this time of year!

Do the jeans fit a size too small? I like them, but I've heard you should order a size up with Cheap Monday denim? What is your take on this?
ReplyDeleteI love peter pan collars. Your hair is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYour hair and makeup look amazing!!! :) x
ReplyDeletelove this look on you, esp the hair!Something like this is basically my daily uniform :) need that TRF bargain xx
ReplyDeleteI was just contemplating on what book to read next! I'm about to go to the bookstore and buy Born to Run - perfect timing for me since I just recently started running!
ReplyDelete@citychick909 - i do think they are smaller than, for example, 7 for all mankind but IMHO i think 7's run slightly bigger....so that makes the CM jeans true to size :) I would probably recommend trying on in person if at all possible...the range of denim texture they use varies tremendously and I think that is what makes the biggest different to size.
ReplyDeleteThat was no help at all - I am useless :)
what size are your jeans? I wonder because my body proportions look like yours :)
ReplyDelete@Quynh - 26!
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous!! Going to have a look at that book now :). X
ReplyDeleteLaura you look fabulous! Yous hairstyle looks really good.
ReplyDeleteI want to request a post on your fitness routine and how you keep so fit :) Pretty please :)

I'll just order a size up, and if they don't fit, luckily they have free exchanges! Your comment was helpful, as I was actually trying to find a comparison with my seven for allmankind denim!
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks great in the pics, love that you have included your perfume now.

ReplyDeleteSo cute! I cannot wear Peter Pan collars for the life of me, but it looks adorable on you, and I'm happy to just admire. :)
ReplyDeletePS. For reading material, I would highly recommend The Twentieth Wife by Indu Sundaresan, and the sequel, Feast of Roses.
OMG, love those books. Captivating.
I love born to run. One of my fave all time books.

ReplyDeleteOoh, Flora is the scent I wear when I'm in spending mode!! Really considering trying these jeans esp. if they are reduced! This year, I've got most of my reading suggestions from you but love Memoirs of A Geisha and also really, really inspired by Katie Pipers compelling autobiographical book, Beautiful. The strength of character she demonstrates, is immense.
