Casual collegiate?

I popped down the road yesterday to enjoy a drink (or two) at the Sofitel.

I am not sure where this outfit came from but all I knew was that I wanted to be comfy and casual. I like how it turned out. Perfect Saturday wear with a pseudo preppy feel. There's a lot of oversized goods going on - shirt, jumper and bag - and some metallic details in the knit and the shoes.

God bless the last minute wardrobe raid :)

Shirt: H&M
Jumper: H&M
Jeans: Cheap Monday
Shoes: Chloe (old)
Bag: Celine
Sunglasses: Ray Ban
Watch: Rolex

In keeping with the outfit, I have been so lazy this weekend. It's just been a lot of sleeping, watching films and eating. I always go into a weekend with a list of productive "to do's" but seldom achieve any of them. Case in point all I have managed to do in the last 2 days is:

* Realise that I NEED/WANT to have the Celine Audrey XL sunglasses - do Google them...divine cat eye shape and understated branding.
* Start using Face Stockholm's bronzer in Capri again, eschewing blusher whilst aiming for "Prada ad face structure."We all need something to aim for, don't we? :)
* Buy about 6 shower gels in the Bath and Body Works sale....I don't know why I did this because honestly, when DOESN'T Bath and Body Works have a sale?
* Slap some Chanel Particuliere on my nails, fall in love with it all over again and then get utterly annoyed at the sight of the first chip.
* Finally finish The Killing (series 1) - no more "Yo Linden" for a while which feels a little disheartening.
* Get annoyed whilst browsing in Sephora - No, I don't need help and I don't need to be asked 5 times either! Snap!
* Rediscover my love of porridge for breakfast - but only with a chopped banana stirred into the mix.
* Watch The Devil's Double and realise that Dominic Cooper is an amazing actor - even if I had to turn away at various points during the film.
* Plan a forthcoming week of eating out. It's gonna' be good :)

What did you get up to? :)

  1. Love the outfit. Although for me if I want to be comfy and casual I will just wear my Hollister joggers. This is much more smart than casual for me.

    Love your blog!

  4. Your weekend looks like fun! I like the casualness of the outfit while still maintaining comfort. California's about to rain so we are planning a day of staying in- sweatshirt and jeans for me! Is the weather ever not beautiful in Dubai??

  5. @Opheeee - yes for most of the year :) Come April - October I will not even want to go outside...sticky, boiling hot and bad hair days abound :)

  8. Completely in love with that "preppy" style! So annoying how fast Particuliere chips :( That is the reason I wear it rarely. I actually eat porridge for breakfast too, but i add almonds and raspberries or blackberries with the banana too!

  9. I've been the same this weekend - planning loads of productive things to do and ended up procrastinating and not achieving anything eek. Love your sunglasses though, definitely need some Ray Bans in my life!

  11. I love the shirt and jumper combo!
My weekend has been pretty laid back, a little bit of online "therapy", a lot of skyping and lack of eating (need to go do that now!)

Have a lovely week Laura. Kisses from Canada.

  19. Oooh, it has to be porridge and honey for me. Nothing like it! That sounds like a pretty good weekend but I know, what you mean with the 'To do' list. I am the worst at that! I have such a long list for the two weeks I have off at the end of the month, redecorate; go to Paris; go blonde (maybe?!); blog overhaul etc but knowing me, all I will have achieved at the end of it is a few reality eps, a novel and a Topshop order!;)

  20. Wore something similar to work the other day and I definitely felt casual yet collegiate--great description :) in reply to some of your points:

--I too HATE when people ask me if I need help; especially multiple times! If I need help, I'll ask!
--I've been all about oatmeal(same as porridge, yes?) for breakfast recently. Fills me up and tastes fantastic with some fresh strawberries!
--I haven't read the book you were talking about but have gotten sucked into The Hunger Games like crazy!
--random thing I've done this weekend: bought neon yellow and tangerine jeans. Wanted to go find some creamsickle ones today, but it's snowing like mad and my city shuts DOWN at even the prediction of it! So today I'll be cleaning my apartment and maybe taking some outfit pictures in the snow :)

  22. I'm in love with the Celine bag and obviously with the Celine cat-eye sunglasses, but i don't think i'd afford them!! I like this college look, it's nice to wear something a bit masculine sometimes, especially these cold winter days, when comfy knits are our best friends ;)

  28. Lazy week-end, as January is getting on my energy level and I mostly felt like sleeping. Other than that, reading "How to Teach Quantum Physics to Your Dog" and loving it, and bot looking forward to a super busy week at work (even though there's studio recording of ads in it and that can be fun)

    Love the oversized jumper!

  37. I would look like a total mess in this look but you pull this preppy chic look so well. Looking gorgeous as always Laura

I am heading back to Dubai next month for a couple of weeks and can't wait to raid the malls. Shopping in Prague is terrible after living in Dubai and I can't wait to hog on food hahaha I'm really food deprived here, everything seems to be very bland in Prague x
