Warning: this post features kitten heels

I apologise in advance for this post. I know that kitten heels aren't for everyone.

I understand and sometimes I am not keen myself. It's strange really because there was a time (circa 1999) when I was all over LK Bennett and those little pointy-toed heels. They gave a little lift and a little smartness.

But then the platform and the skyscraper heel took over and kitten heels became a thing of the past.

Well it seems that I am officially bringing them back into my wardrobe. I spied these Louboutin rip-offs in Zara over the weekend and immediately thought "workwear".

It's a practical shoe - I am not denying that - but they are incredibly comfortable and do actually feel quite elegant. I think the key is all in the mini metal heel and pointed toe.

I wore them today - first outing and no blisters to report - and dressed them down. Cue jeans and a blazer :)

Jeans: Cheap Monday
Top: Urban Outfitters tank
Blazer: H&M
Shoes: Zara - Link!
Bag: Miu Miu
Sunglasses: RayBan

The perfume that I wore today - and have been obsessed with ever since I got it in last week's GlamBox is Mon Parfum by M. Micallef.

In the words of Vince Vaughan in Swingers (one of my favourite films of all time!) this is "money".

It smells rich in a way that commercial fragrances seldom do. Another word could be gourmand. It's passionfruit, vanilla and caramel all mixed into a sweet musky concoction. It's like nothing else I have tried which is no doubt why I can't fully describe it - look to Luckyscent

Sadly this little sample is spent - thanks to a handbag spillage - and it's going to be a while before I feel prepared to spend $240 on a bottle of perfume :)

I hope you are all well! After my weekend in the UK I am back in Dubai and ready with lots of posts. Next up is some very pretty and very affordable dainty jewellery I have found on etsy and ebay :)

See you all very soon - i.e., tomorrow!

Laura...what do you think about Tarte eyeliner?
Also wanted to share this new LA based store with you. http://www.lambandflag.com/ Went in to check it out with my 20yr old son. Loved it and he (who is quite picky) loved it too! It's amazing! I thought of you when I was there and talked to the sales guy about your blog. Anyway...you are an inspiration! xo

  9. I love the heels. With everyone (myself included) going mad for stripper platforms, it was only a matter of time before we had to take a step back - it's not like they could have started to make them any higher.

    Looking well! x

  13. Am I missing something? The shoes are gorgeous! I don't even know how this could be a 'different taste' kind of thing, as this shoe (heel and all) is beautiful! In fact, if anything, I'm usually not a fan of the pointed toe, (I look elf-like in them) but the back is stunning and universally flattering. the sling-back is adorable and the steel heel is sexy.

Maybe it's my embarrassingly untrained eye, but Laura, you wore it well. Something turns me off about the plethora of sky-high YSL platforms on every other foot. This is gorgeous.

  15. Awww, why do so many dislike kitten heels? I think they are adorable! It's kind of sad that we have accepted walking in impractical shoes that are actually injuring us in the long-run. We are all going to be decrepid little old ladies with bunions and bad backs....sorry if that's a scary image! I love three to four inch heels the best, that's what I gravitate towards. But these are so darn cute!

  23. I don't mind those at all. They actually look practical but still nice and feminine. I was actually just on the verge of buying a pair of nude coloured shoes from zara with a kitten heel. My problem is I'm really tall already so in sky scraper heels/platforms (which i do really love) I am always taller than almost everyone in a bar (I live in Korea which doesn't help)! I wish kitten heels would come back into fashion!

I have a question though, how do you find Zara heels fit? I got a few pairs of flats in the post recently and they were all way too tight despite being my size. So sad :( I don't know whether to order the bigger size if I get them.

Do I spy a first knuckle ring on your middle finger? I would love to see a closer pic if so!!! So glad I found your new blog!!! You are absolutely one of my favorite people!!! Do you still wear you Cynthia Vincent wedges I sent you? I still use the makeup you sent me on a daily basis! ;)

  31. You know, I have a pair of kitten heels that I actually secretly love...it's just the fact that everyone hates them that keeps me from wearing them...which is so silly, I know! And they're louboutin so I feel so bad ignoring them..anyway, Laura you've officially given me the confidence to wear them and not give an f what people may think (lol how dramatic does that sound!?) xxxx

  32. I like your shoes. :) I'm not big on the stilettos craze. I'm a mom, I need to be comfortable, but want to be stylish, too. The shoes are cute without being... hookerish. Keep rockin' em, I may go find myself a pair!

  48. These are so cute! I usually find kitten heels harder to wear comfort-wise than 3 in pumps but I might need to reconsider!

  50. Envious right now, your hair just gets longer with every post!
You look great in the kitten heels but I'm very doubtful they would do anything for me.
It is a shame you ran out of the gorgeous perfume so quickly, my nice scents always seem to run out quicker. Obviously I'm using them more but more often then not, it could also be because I'm clumsy and spill them. Although, I have to admit to a few 'accidental on purpose(!)' spillages, sometimes you got to do whatever it takes to to envelope yourself and your space in the pretty scent!
