The Topshop Fluoro Piping Skater Dress

This is a great summer dress from Topshop.

I actually spied it on someone in Abu Dhabi about 6 weeks ago and fell in love with it for the following reasons:

a) Fabric: I love the fabric - a textured jacquard finish in a bright white
b) Neon piping - this just adds a unique edge. I refuse to utter the words "bang on trend" for fear of inducing a global cringe but you get the score.
c) Shape:  Very girly but nicely balanced by a quite hard, structural shape in the back.

It was a nice surprise to learn that it was from Topshop - that place has been so underwhelming this season.

I picked this up when I was back in the UK and have been waiting for the right opportunity to wear it. Yesterday's brunch seemed like a valid enough excuse :)

I really enjoyed wearing this and would recommend picking it up - it's currently in the sale! - but a couple of things to note.

a) It is sized big - I got this in my standard dress size but it's definitely roomy. I could have probably gone for a size down.

b) That sizing issue is especially true because it's quite gappy in the bust area. This is probably more of a statement on my woeful lack of boobage than anything else but it's something to make you aware of anyway.

NB: Wearing a bra is also impossible so expect potentially awkwardness in air-conditioned environments. Are nipples "in"?

Hope you all had a good week :) I have some busy work weeks ahead but then it's time for my holiday and....VEGAS!!!! So excited and nearer the time I will be demanding recommendations of places to eat, drink and of course, shop! :)

    so it's ok to wear dresses without a bra? i recently got a zara dress that looks okay with a bra but i think it would look better without... having a 34B has some advantages after all lol

    With regards to the bra issue, I recommend possibly trying a racerback bra - I got mine in Gilly Hicks and it works a dream on some awkwardly cut dresses!
    There's some on their website and there's currently a sale! X

  8. Great dress! I love the piping detail.

    I went to Vegas a couple of months ago - be sure to watch the fountains outside the Bellagio hotel at least once. They're spectacular at night time especially.

    Mon Ami Gabi restaurant in the Paris hotel is fabulous. Great food. And if you get the table right you can watch the Bellagio fountains while you eat.

    Other than that go do some serious shopping inside Caeser's Palace :) I spent a large portion of time inside Victoria's Secret, Juicy and the huge MAC shop. Ooh and Cheesecake Factory is in Caeser's Palace too with about a million different varieties if cheesecake floats your boat.

    1. Cheesecake Factory is one of my favourite restaurants ever. No joke :) I might have to hit you up for more recommendations - there is seriously so much to do there that it's a bit overwhelming. I still haven't worked out where to stay! :) So looking forward to it!

    2. Laura - I went to Vegas a couple of weeks ago!! it was A-MAZING!!!! We stayed at the Wynn....best hotel everrrrr!! Highly recc!! You MUST have brunch at the Bellagio!! (Oceans Eleven was filmed there). If you like shopping in outlet malls, there are 2 great ones there. The fashion show mall is right next to the Wynn as are Topshop and Forever 21 (it's huuuuge!!). There is a lovely Italian restaurant in the Venitian. Also go to Tao (in the Venitian) both restaurant and club...it's beaut!! There is just SOOO much to do there....we crammed a lot in a week but still felt like we missed out on a lot! Deffo going back! If I remember anymore I'll let you know! Have fun chick xx

  20. I LOVE this dress on you, and you're totally right about the girly shape but the cool structure in the back makes it a little more interesting. The neon piping also makes it a little less typical, which is really fun!

    So jealous you're going to VEGAS! Ah! You will have a blast there! :) I haven't been in a few years and desperately need to go back! Have a great Saturday :)

  54. The dress looks beautiful on you Laura. I'm the opposite, too busty, so I can't pull off dresses like this. So be happy with your lack of boobage, you have more dress selections that way ;)

    I just got from Vegas this past weekend and it was awesome as usual

    Musts
    Bellagio's Jasmine for brunch, it has the best views of the fountains, better views than mon ami gabi...although I really like that place for dinner too. Yummy French food.
    Any of the Wolfgang puck restaurants (Spago, pizzerias, bar and grills, Postrio at varioius hotels) are a great choice for dinner.
    Holsteins Burger and Shakes at the Cosmopolitan is great for lunch. Try the fun-gi burger with gruyere cheese and truffle oil.
    For a splurge, try Mastro's Ocean Club at Crystals for dinner, best steaks you'll ever have.

    Donts
    Don't waste your time with buffets unless you're at Bellagio or Wynn
