I walked into Topshop last Friday, saw these hanging on the rail, thought that the print looked interesting and dared myself to try them on.
I was fully expecting to hate them. I thought that the print would make me look huge and that the crotch would hang unflatteringly low a'la Harem pants. It was a genuine shock to see that they fitted really well and gave good bum.
They felt as comfy as pyjamas but looked much more chic than that. The print is striking but it's also presented in neutral tones - which makes it easy to pair other items with. And they have pockets! I am a big fan of pockets!
So I bought them and thought they might be a good idea for my 15 hour flight to Seattle. As it happens I think they were because for whatever reason I got upgraded to First Class at the gate. On Emirates that means, Dom Perignon, a private cabin with doors, a seat that turns into a bed - complete with mattress - mini bar, Bulgari toiletries and pyjamas to sleep in. I am sure I owe all this to these feather print pants :)
Prepare for an unimaginative use of Topshop...
Trousers: Topshop - Link!
Vest top: Topshop
Blazer: Topshop Petite - Link!
Sandals: from a shop in Dubai - helpful information for you right there! ;P (These trousers would look so much better with closed toe black heels...another time!)
Bag: Celine
Sunglasses: Prada
These photos were taken in Seattle - and the sun is hitting me on my left which is why my hair looks 5 shades lighter/like it's on fire.
I am here for a couple of days - because the other half had a work conference - and then fly out to Vegas for the main part of my holiday.
So far Seattle is lovely. It's so strange (and nice) being able to walk on actual streets - Dubai does not have streets.
One small purchase has been made - will share with you tomorrow - and today is the day I hit Sephora. If you have any recommendations for Lorac, Tarte and Hourglass I would love to know because they are the brands I have my beady eye on :)

Printed trousers was another trend that I thought, 'not for me' but now I'm tempted to give it a shot next time I'm in the fitting rooms and will definitly be trying to find that blazer, petite, yay!!!
ReplyDeleteNever hear much about Seattle but it looks lovely, enjoy :)
I think it's definitely one thing you need to try - I would never have thought about these until I slapped them on :)
DeleteThey look incredible on you! I am so jealous, if my hips weren't as wide as a bus I'd consider going to try them on, trousers just don't suit me. X
ReplyDeleteThank you Georgia :) And give' em a try! They are super comfy too :)
DeleteI love love love them. I tried these on for my holiday to Malta (didn't realise they were the exact ones when I saw them on your Instagram yesterday!) but they didn't look right on me at all... if only they were available in Petite! You look lovely though Laura an I hope you're having a good holiday, it seems like you deserve it for all your hard work :) xx
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had an amazing flight over - first class sounds like a dream. Definitely your lucky pants! :) You look amazing, per usual.
ReplyDeleteExcited to see you this afternoon, yay for Sephora shopping! xoxo
Love the print and they hang really nicely on you, I've only ventured as far as floral leggings but I have also got some plain cuffed joggers from Topshop which fit really well and I would wear them out!
ReplyDeleteI love those! So much more wearable than the bright multicoloured ones. I am also a fan of pocket, I'm on a perpetual hunt for smart dresses with pockets as I need them for work (smart but not desk based so I need to carry stuff around!)
ReplyDeleteHave a fantastic holiday. :)
I'm in Seattle for work this week too! Its quite nice to experience ~60 degrees in the 'summer'.
ReplyDeletehaha exactly. pleasant weather is something I am not used to :)
Deletethese are gorgeous trousers, they look so expensive. I also love your blazer, I'm currently having a dilema choosing one but I am swaying towards a topshop one! fashionlifelovefaith xx
ReplyDeleteThey remind me of some uber expensive Plein Sud trousers. Okay so the Plein Sud ones are probably a silk mix and these are polyester but whatever... :) haha
DeleteLove the pants, I definitely need to venture out into more patterned trousers. :) x
ReplyDeleteLovely!
ReplyDeletelove the pants and the bag!
ReplyDeleteWMBG
Thank you :)
DeleteSuch a clever outfit, it looks super comfy yet very stylish!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is gorgeous and it might be weird but it's so nice to see you in "normal", almost UK type lighting :)
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays!! xx
I know what you mean...and an actual real life street :)
DeleteCheck out the tarte ceaseless concealer it's absolutly amazing! Love the trousers btw! Xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation - will have a look :)
DeleteLovely trousers!
ReplyDeletehttp://kadddii.blogspot.com/
I really want to try printed trousers, but they just don't feel very "me".
ReplyDeleteHowever yours are gorgeous! Tis a shame they're out of stock though :(
x
When you're at Sephora, try out Tarte's lip stains. I absolutely adore them! They're long-lasting, leave a beautiful sheer stain, come in a chubby pencil, and leave your lips with a slight but enjoyable tingle.
ReplyDeleteWho would have guessed those are joggers?!
ReplyDeleteTarte blissful looks lovely :)
They are a non-jogger material but same shape and just as comfy :) Will check out Blissful!
DeleteYour hair looks gorgeous! I'm obsessed with all things feather print (bet no one would guess by looking at my blog... ;)) and think I may need these in my life! Not in my size on the website though, so looks like I'll be hitting all local Topshops to track them down! x
ReplyDeleteThese trousers are amazing - may actually have to go try them! I've loved print trousers on others for ages, but I haven't loved them on myself - but perhaps this print will be easier to wear. Also, who doesn't love a first class upgrade? ;)
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful! And they look super comfortable! I really would like a pair of printed trousers!x
ReplyDeletehttp://styleandstarbucks.blogspot.co.uk/
Great look! Probably something I would have passed by hanging on the rack..but they look great on!!
ReplyDeleteI love the Lorac Unzipped Palette....http://www.sephora.com/unzipped-200-value-P303412
I'm sure the people at Emirates were starstruck! Anyway, I have always loved the Hourglass Veil Primer, a lifesaver for my foundation during the summer. If you have oily skin, the new Hourglass Immaculate foundation is quite decent.. but do skip if you hate matte, almost powdery finish. I also love their eyeshadows. Lorac and Tarte Blushes have a cult following so those are your best bets from them.
ReplyDeleteonly tarte product i've tried and loved is their creaseless concealer. perfection for under the eyes layered over armani's corrector. xx
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYou absolutely need to try the Tarte Amazonian Clay blushes - Exposed and Blissful are my favorites :)
Gorgeous! I swear you look good in any piece of clothing :)! xx

I love your Celine phantom! How are you liking it? I just purchased a small phantom in navy about 3 weeks ago, but I've been nervous to use it since the base is so wide. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on it. :)
ReplyDeleteI recently bought a Tarte kit from QVC (US tv shopping network) and the kit contained a tube of Tarte's maracuja oil. As one with oily skin -I though no way .. but have used it at night (about every 3rd night or so) and wake with lovely soft skin (no break outs).
ReplyDeleteLaura despite all my stalking of your blog, I do NOT remember seeing this Celine before... if this is new, you're in BIG trouble ;o) x
ReplyDeletei really didn't see this one coming from you but they actually look really nice :)
ReplyDeleteTarte's blush is wonderful - I have one and the colour is gorgeous and the pigmentation is good
ReplyDeleteyou look stunning, nice hair color!
ReplyDeleteSo jealous of your visit to Seattle- my inner Grey's Anatomy fan has made it one of the places I'd like to visit most!! Sad but very true....And I am unexpectedly loving those trousers....and the Celine bag is gorgeous as always!

ReplyDeleteLaura those pants look amazing on you!!! I'm sure they upgraded you because you're beautiful and those pants just emphasized all the right features :)

ReplyDeleteDamn you! I have followed your link to these trousers, and checked if they're in my nearest store. They are. It's my day off tomorrow...my bank balance will now suffer!

Love the trousers, I would have never looked at them on the rail but you've made me want to go check them out.
ReplyDeleteAs for recommendations for Sephora I would recommend the Tarte Amazonian Clay blusher in the shade Tipsy and the Hourglass Primer is amazing!

These trousers look amazing on you.
ReplyDeleteThe lack of streets is the one thing that puts me off living in Dubai, I can't imagine not walking everywhere! x
I love a feather print and I think I will have to check these out.

You have to try the cheek stains from Tarte! I've been obsessed with the color "blushing Bride" (so sheer and dewy and totally natural, like your cheeks but better)
ReplyDeleteAlso, try the lipsurgence matte crayons! They have gorgeous nudes that I'm sure you'd adore.
Looking cute in the pants!
"gave good bum" haha, reminds me of my Cheap Monday jeans that did NOT give good bum and looked like there was nowt there. i quite like those trousers! especially like the print
ReplyDeleteI love how you put this outfit together!! the blazer and Celine bag tie the look all together!! Have fun in Sephora!!! Soooo jealous! :)
ReplyDeleteyou are hilarious, I get all excited when I see you posted !
ReplyDeleteYou should come down to Vancouver, British Columbia. You're less than a three hour drive from there!!!
ReplyDeleteTarte has a 30% off sale going on right now! Just google for the code :)

ReplyDeleteMaracuja Blush & Glow and a Nail Polish Bar. The store girls are so nice there!!

Hi Laura!! Hourglass lipistick in Whisper is gorgeous, and I am slightly obsessed with their waterproof bronzer in Mirage. One of my favorite blushes is Lorac's baked matte satin blush, the color Exposed in particular is pretty amazing. If you pass by Stilla, definitely check out the new long wear lip colors and the stay all day liquid lipsticks... I purchased a few this past week and I have to say I am very pleased/impressed :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have an amazing holiday!!!
Im not sure if Sephora carries Tarte's Maracuja oil collection, but if they do you HAVE to try the pure Maracuja oil and the ceaseless concealer. I work at Ulta and we sell it here, so if Sephora doesn't have it, try to make it to an Ulta!
ReplyDeleteYay! Seattle!!! I live at the downtown seattle sephora ;) The Lorac TANtalizer bronzer is the most beautiful, silky, glowy bronzer I have ever used :) Have fun in Seattle, you should get a coffee from Wheelhouse, it's the best!
ReplyDeleteYou look stunning Laura! You make this whole outfit work! I love it! Hope you have a fabulous time in the US!

So pretty, Laura! Did you escape Dubai because it's Ramadan now?
ReplyDeleteCurrently obsessed with printed pants... LOVE these! Now just need the weather in Auckland to warm up so I can wear them x
ReplyDeleteI don't own any printed trousers but if they'll get me upgraded i might give em a go :D
ReplyDeleteI love the print of those, they look so good on you! X
ReplyDeleteLOVE the trousers! You have a new follower! Thanks for all the great outfit ideas!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with those trousers!!! Not sure I could pull them off myself but I absolutley love them!
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteAnd this trousers fit you perfectly.

You´re hair looks good and I like the glasses! I would appreachiate it if you would post the nail polish as well! (or if it is discontinued -then I´d better not know..)
ReplyDeleteI love the colours you go for with clothes - neutrals really suit you xxx
ReplyDeletegeorgiasmakeupaddiction.blogspot.co.uk
I might be a little biased but having come so far you'd be doing yourself a great disservice by not checking out Vancouver. :)
ReplyDeleteAlthough I'm sure after such a long trip and only have a few days, another 2 hours "feels" difficult at this point in time..
Have a lovely holiday, I'm sure Vegas will treat you wonderfully!
Do come back again and visit your West Coast friends.
xoxo
After seeing this post I actually went and purchased this blazer. I was really pleased to see it came in petite, it fits perfectly! normally whenever I try to buy blazers the fall huge on me and I end up looking like a Miami vice cop. You're style is classic and beautiful. Keep posting :)

ReplyDeleteIf you don't mind me asking, which size did you buy? :) Judging from your pics I think we're about the same size. I just have a feeling I need to order (no Topshop near me) a size smaller than usual as they look so huge on the Topshop website xD Thanks in advance for the reply! :)
ReplyDeletethose pants are so chic! maybe if i was a bit more daring, i'd try them. love your outfit!
