The ASOS Plate and Spike Belt

So there I was on the ASOS site looking for a nice, classic belt. One of those timeless pieces that will see me through seasons and years...

Did I find things like that on the site? Of course! Did I buy them? No!

No, I got sidetracked by the "trendy wendy" new additions and added a plate/spike combo affair to my basket. I am confident that it will last at least one season before I either:

a) Impale myself (or someone else) on a spike; or
b) It falls apart (it was £15 after all)

Until either of the above happens I plan to wear this a lot. It's a waist-cincher that breaks up a lazy day black outfit and whilst I don't want to come over all Tyra on you, it's most definitely"fierce".

And it's not rose gold - shocker!

Belt: ASOS - Link!
Dress: Topshop - Link!

What I would say, if you are thinking about buying it, is that the sizing is a bit weird. I got the Small but it's not as tight as I would have expected it to be. I was pitching for a close fit and restricted breathing but this definitely leaves room for expansion. Just check the measurements before you buy I guess....which of course is something I didn't do!

Bvlgari Jasmin Noir

Now onto something else... because I didn't want to upload a post just about a belt...a new/old perfume!  Bvlgari Jasmin Noir may have been out for 4 years but I am only just discovering it now.

The bottle is lux and so is the scent. It's one of those sultry, feminine perfumes that dissipates softly. It's not going to accompany you through your day in the way that Black Orchid and the like might....this is much more subtle. If I had to describe it in one word it would be "alluring" - other reviewers online frequently describe it as "sexy". Hey, here's hoping!

When you first spray it, it's pure Jasmin and Sandalwood and the dry down stays quite loyal to that. Of course after a few hours I can't even smell it - which I typically resent - but the strange thing with this one is that other people obviously can because I have had so many compliments on this. I think it's just the soft subtlety that is fairly non-offensive, crosses over every season and so appeals to most. As a compliment-whore I am obviously wearing it at every day/night opportunity.

I used to refer to Bvlgari as Vulgari - so original eh? - but this has completely removed any preconceptions about the brand. Jasmin Noir is just.....well, lovely.

Onto the nosey parker question, what perfume are you wearing at the moment?

PS. My next post will be beauty related. I have had quite a few requests for that and so a lipstick review is heading your way very soon :)

Hope you are all well!

  1. Love the belt! I came so close to buying it the other day, and seeing it here makes me want it all the more. At the minute I'm really into the Prada Candy scent, wearing it gets me sooo many compliments! Nice post :-)

  2. Love the belt! I am almost inclined to go online and buy it..but I am at work and should do my delegation tax return instead.
I'll give the Bulgari a try though, sounds lovely for autumn and winter.
My current favourite is Creed Virgin Island Water...very summery, very coconut and lime almost like a pool side cocktail.

  3. Great belt! And a lovely perfume. Very classy :)

Right now, I'm wearing "Musc Ravageur" and it's just one of the most gorgeous perfumes I've ever smelled. Heck, one of the most gorgeous scents I've ever smelled! It lasts a long time too, which is great because it smells especially nice after it has been lingering in clothes or hair for a while.

  8. Love the belt! I wonder how it would look with black velvet or even purple velvet? I've not seen many people do gold and velvet, would be interesting. Shocked that it is not rose gold, after all those rose gold posts!

  13. Narciso Rodriguez ESSENCE. It is what I call my 'all rounder'. It is an interesting, but not complicated scent.

Many people wear For Her (both versions)
Essence is just that touch MORE.

  27. I'm still faithful to my combo of two Lutens (Un Bois Vanille and Five O Clock Au Gingembre).

Regarding not being able to smell your own perfume, it's actually normal: your brains tells your nose 'ok, I know this scent, it's normal and part of the background, stop warning me it's there I have other stuff to do.'
So you're bound to not smell your perfume after a few days, but others can still smell it, no worries.

  28. that belt is so bad ass I love it! I actually just put it in my shopping cart on asos and then decided not to buy it lol I won't get much use out of it because in a week most of my time will be spent in scrubs for a year but I am so in love with it!
I am using Jovan right now but as a perfume addict I will definitely be checking this one out as well. sounds like it'll smell amazing and I also want to give Lady Million a try

  34. Spotted a similar belt in Zara a few weeks ago and loved it, definitely snapping this one up... thanks Laura :) Although I'm buying a large because I want to see if it works as a normal hip belt... fingers crossed it does!

Also, the perfume seems right up my street... the description you gave sounds similar to Thierry Mugler's Alien, one of my faves :)

I'm currently wearing Burberry London, it's my fave one ever, goes so well with me. And I switch it up with Burberry Body and Kim Kardashian's too .. that one is surprisingly okay for a celeb perfume.
