I enjoyed wearing this whilst on holiday but let's get this straight - it's far too "cutesy tootsey" for me to ever feel comfortable wearing it outside of beach/Vegas type scenarios. I am pretty old after all!
What I will say about it though is that:
a) The print is fun - mini turquoise palm trees.
b) The shape is retro - I can't help feeling a bit Lana Del Rey in this..."I wish"...it's that flare at the hips and the corset top that makes that happen.
Other things to note:
a) The cups are small. I fit because of course I have a limited offering in that department but if God or the surgeon blessed you with plenty then you may have serious boobage - this may not be a bad thing.
b) Unlike a lot of playsuits, it won't disappear (if you know what I mean) when you walk. It flows nicely and looks like an indecently short skirt.
I had fun wearing this and of course I had to wear it with my favourite Tom Ford, Wild Orchid - it's a very necessary match :)
Unnecessary matches however were the shoes I paired it with (sandals - out of shot)...they were all I travelled with. In a similar vein I don't think the blazer works (white would have been better) but it was all I had with me and performed as my comfort blanket - good in air conditioning and good for toning down the Barbie factor until I felt a bit more used to wearing so much pink.
Ignore my hair.
Playsuit: Topshop - apparently sold out online now (it's in the sale) but it might be lurking in your local store
Bag: Celine
Blazer: ASOS
Sunglasses: Prada
In other news:
* Beverly Hills Nannies is filling my trash TV void until a decent series of the Real Housewives returns to our screens. Get it on watch-series.eu.
* I am reading a pretty heavy but very interesting book - In The Garden of Beasts. It's about Hitler's rise to power as told by the American ambassador in Berlin: part truth and part fiction. It is of course a little disturbing and full of eery suspense - it's not a part of history that anyone comfortably "enjoys" - but I like the blend of history lesson and human interest story. I am also reading it in actual book format - as oppose to e-format: and not going to lie, the turning of actual pages feel nostalgic and cosy.
* My skin is TERRIBLE but I am dealing not with spots - I am dealing with dryness. I blame the flying and dry air. I have tried smothering it in thick creams but it doesn't seem to be improving. It's so difficult to combat, isn't it? If you have any tried and tested product recommendations please let me know!
Until tomorrow.... :) Hope you are all well!

That playsuit is adorable! It looks great on you :)x
ReplyDeleteThank you Nicolina! x
DeleteLovely playsuit Laura! Am definitely popping to my local Topshop in my lunch hour :) I find that steam cream works wonders on my dry areas - I put on my normal loisturiser all over and then pat steam cream on areas that need it. It works wonders in my opinion, plus the packaging is very cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mia - I have seen Steam Cream in shops before...will try and hunt it out!
DeleteYou look lovely! I see what you mean about the Lana de Ray-esque-ness :)
ReplyDeleteI love your bag too.
xo
Thanks Jess :)
DeleteI don't do playsuits because HOW ON EARTH ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO GO TO THE LOO! At work or in public places, no less!
ReplyDeleteFeel free to clue me in if there's something I don't know...
This looks adorable on you, though...
haha love your comment :) There is only one answer - take off all your clothes! Awkward!
DeleteThat's what I feared, but thanks for confirming it wasn't me being idiotic about the whole process :)))
DeleteThey need to put some hooks down there or something. I love my one piece outfits. My friends call them my onesie!
DeleteLove the bright red/coral nails! What polish is it?
ReplyDeleteThanks Claire - its Gelish! The colour is called Tiki Tiki Maranga (I think!)
DeleteNope - I got that wrong. Just googled! Tiki Tiki Laranga! :)

i love you
you look great, even in a stacey malibu outfit (this may not a bad thing either :P)

Stacey Malibu <3 :) It was very Vegas appropriate I feel :)
DeleteHave a look at the Bioderma Hydrabio range, it's available from Boots, Bin Sina & Nasser in Dubai. It's specifically for dry/dehydrated skin and does wonders. Mid range price too x
ReplyDeleteThanks Simone - will pop to Boots tonight!
DeleteGet your hands on aquaphor by eucerin! And while im on about hands, your nail polish looks amazing!

Ahhhhh Laura you look so lovely! It really suits you and the colour is fab :) xo

This is a trend I havent indulged since I was little. The curse of being a tall girl and having a long body! Looks great on you! Having just come back from working (and a little playing!) in Italy my skin has gone crazy. The heat and lack of air con in most places has affected it. It's always difficult to know what to pack because heat = less clothes. Air con = more clothes! xx
ReplyDeleteYou look so retro these days, I love it! I really suffer from dry skin and always have, even if you're breaking out you should continue to moisturize but not with a creme that's too fatty because that will just prevent your skin from "breathing", even if you break out. Once your skin is moisturized again you can start focusing on the impurities. :) x

In regards to the dryness have you tried Origins Drink Up Intensive overnight mask? It's an absolute staple for me & I know alot of bloggers rave about it too. The fact it smells delicious is a bonus too :)
ReplyDeleteSarah xx
Hi Laura,
ReplyDeleteCute outfit. I ended up with the Topshop feather print joggers you featured a few posts ago, love them!
Re recommendations for hydration I love Dermologica skin hydrating mask which you can leave on or was off dependent on your needs... I always leave it on as it's clear and works a treat!
Xx
I use retin-a, which really dries out your skin, and la Roche porsay Active C anti wrinkle is the only thing that keeps the dry patches away. The consistency wouldn't make you think it would help with dryness and it's not meant to help with dryness but it absolutely does.
ReplyDeleteI use the Caudalie spray mist with the Retin-A and it absolutely combats the dryness fantastically also. I also use the Lancome hydration mask during flight and leave it to dry on my skin and then as a barrier until short before landing (it is clear, but a little shiny which I don't mind...could also be glowing skin :)) and the clarins beauty flash balm (after flying). This whole process seems to work well for my combination/oily skin and also prevents breakouts and dry patches.
DeleteThis playsuit looks lovely on you it really suits you :) I like the blazer with it to make it less girly :) x

ReplyDeleteI actually think the black blazer works perfectly with it, provides the perfect contrast and not too matchy-matchy :) will definitely be checking out the book, only studied history at A level but found the Nazi Germany module shocking! x
ReplyDeleteOh, I thought that it's a dress untill I read a title =)

You look stunning my dear, as always. Beautiful colour and perfect for summer. Tres jealous that you're living somewhere warm; hardly feels like summer here in the UK x
ReplyDeleteOh and for dry skin, all I can recommend is good old E45 x
ReplyDeleteWhen I was dealing with extreme dryness last year, Chanel's Hydramax + Active Serum worked wonders.
ReplyDeleteLove your posts, as always! :)
For insanely dry skin, almond oil is the way to go my friend! :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could wear playsuits but unfortunately being tall I've never ever found one that doesnt wedgie me :( TMI I'm sorry. But I love that one! If I could get to a store to try my luck with this one I would. Its right up my street with the color and print!! The color suits you really well :)

Come say hey at Ducklingtoswan.com! :)
I got a simliar design playsuit from Primark! for £8 only difference is the pink is paler the one i have..ive been wearing mine with a white cardigan but i do think it looks great with the black blazer smart casual look.
ReplyDeletepersonally i think you look great in it :-) x
Slather up in a thick layer of aquaphor ointment for an hour then take it off with a hot towel, it works wonders.
ReplyDeleteI wish God or a surgeon had given me a butt
Definitely one of the best playsuits I've ever seen! Love the cut. xx

Try the Rosehip oil for your dry skin. You can try Trilogy Rosehip oil OR Kora Rosehip oil :) the smell maybe foul but it works wonders :) Try it as night treatment first and see how you go :)

La Roche Posay Hydreane Sensitive Moisturising Cream Rich for the skin. Works wonders, my skin seems to love the stuff. Hope it gets better for you soon.
ReplyDeleteI love the playsuit but just dont know what occasions I'd have to wear it. I need a holiday!!
Love the playsuit! I generally have dry skin and for the last while I've been using and loving the Kiehl's midnight recovery concentrate. Its kind of a dry oil texture but not super greasy and gross. You only need a couple drops so a bottle will last ages and I wake up in the morning with great skin.
ReplyDeleteOH your bag! That is a really pretty playsuit - I wish I was a pink/playsuit person! x
ReplyDeletehttp://that-bird.blogspot.co.uk/
I'm sure you know this already but for your skin, drinking LOTS of water can help. As well as showering less (I know that seems gross) b/c all that water can strip your skin of natural oils etc etc.
ReplyDeleteLove the playsuit, very retro *.*
xx Veronica
I absolutely love the playsuit, it's so cute! My skin's been terrible lately too!

you should try cleansing balms. the balance me cleanse and smooth one is really good. for me, after cleansing is usually when my skin gets driest but balms + a muslin cloth leave it feeling sort of...plump? definitely not dry! and the cloth takes care of those pesky flaky bits
ReplyDeleteFabulous play suit! U look amazing as usual! Have you seen Caroline hirons blog? Beautymouth? Its amazing! She has just reviewed Hydraluron by Indeed Labs wigs you can get in boots. It's for dehydration, it might help or even just some of her advice/ product recommendations
ReplyDeleteMiss you on YT Laura! :)

Oh I adore your playsuit! Have you tried Elizabeth Arden 8 hour skin protectant for your dry patches?
ReplyDeleteHave a fab weekend Hun xoxo

The playsuit is so cute, love it! I know what you mean about the skin. I'm used to Middle East weather, now I'm in Europe for the summer, and my skin is dry. Even my hands, everything! Can't wait to get back to the land of sand. Jealous of your bag. It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteso cute!
ReplyDeleteLove the playsuit - you look fab! And Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentrate for dry skin everytime :) x
ReplyDeleteso cute! I like my aveeno moisturizer the best. gigi. food and beauty blogger @ www.gigikkitchen.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteGorgeous playsuit! I just purchased a 100% pure Hyaluronic acid serum and am absolutely loving it! I naturally have very dry/dehydrated skin and it works wonders under my regular moisturizer. I got it from whole foods Canada but sure there are others out there. Xx
ReplyDeletehi Laura!
ReplyDeleteI use a cream that works really well: it's cicaplast from la roche posay.
try it two nights in a row, it works!
Hi Laura
ReplyDeleteJust wondering which size did you get for this? I'm usually a size 8 but needed a size 10 for this because the cut and cups are so small!
xoxo
Love this playsuit !! Beautiful !!

Laura! You look stunning - as always! I have a holy grail Moisturiser that I use when travelling! Don't laugh. Promise? Mmkay, good. It's Elizabeth Arden Intervene Daily Moisturiser. Thank me later x ;)
ReplyDeleteMy face is the epitome of dryness, and the magic product that makes it normal is the Neals Yard Beauty Sleep Concentrate. If you haven't tried I would seriously recommend! :) Hope you are well! Hannah xx

Hi Laura. I have a little suggestion for your dry skin situation. I have been using two drops of the body shops vitamin e facial oil mixed with my normal moisturiser which is Nivea visage rich moisturising day cream. I swear it works like a dream. I'm not kidding for some reason if I use it at night the next morning my face looks so supple and plump ( in a good way lol ) it's cheap as chips so you don't have much to lose xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt's so cute! Looks fab on you. :)
ReplyDeleteKeep calm and carry lipstick.
Very random but is this in the driveway for the Wynn?! I've accidentally turned into it way to many times when driving down the Strip in Vegas. It looks just like it haha.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love jumpers/rompers/onesies, but I have a super long torso and can never wear one without it being completely up my behind. Boooo.
You look fab. For your dry skin could I recommend Clarins facial oil? I occassionally suffer from dehydrated skin and I've just done a 30 day 'treatment' using a sample size bottle and it really set my skin right again.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous playsuit :) try the Yonka masque no.1 if you leave it on over night it hydrates skin by 90% no joke! Smells gorgeous you will be hooked once you try it! I have worked with lots of skin care lines and that masque is by far the best :)
ReplyDeleteTry Avene Rich Recovery cream or a good old bit of Nivea in the white tub not the blue tub xx
ReplyDeleteAhh you are stunning! No fair! :P
ReplyDeleteLove the playsuit! It looks great on you!

The only things I've found to hydrate my parched skin are oils! I love pure argan oil (Josie Maran has one sold at Sephora) and raw or unrefined coconut oil. It works as the greatest nighttime moisturizer. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteThis playsuit is so cute, the blazer and bag match perfectly!

Oils have been the only thing that has helped my skin when it was especially dry. I love the Tarte Maracuja Oil (it does smell like cooking oil though) and the Josie Maran Argan Oil. Both sink in to the skin and really work well to moisturize not only the top layer but beneath the surface. I slather on a good amount, go to sleep and then wake up to a better skin texture. I have tried it during the day as well, but prefer it at night. Embryolisse works well for day (for me). It is a thick cream that I thought would completely congest my skin, but it didn't. Works amazingly well and is in a handy tube for easy daily use.
ReplyDeleteHope you find something great for your skin.
If your skin is still dry, try the origins drink up intensive mask! I looove it!
ReplyDeleteI'm usually not a fan of rompers, but this one is adorable!
ReplyDeletehttp://labelleseraphine.blogspot.com/
Highly recommend John masters argan oil! I'm on my second bottle and have a third waiting it's turn. Oils have really helped my dry sensitive skin. I layer it with a serum underneath and sometimes a cream on top. However I change around products, the argan oil is always the constant. I have also topped it with coconut oil which works well too. No greasiness whatsoever.
ReplyDeleteTry fresh rose mask, does wonders!
