Impulsive!

So there I was on my way to yoga when I thought I would pop in to the local salon for a hair extension consultation. 1 hour later I walk out with a load of new hair attached to my head.

That all sounds very impulsive but for a while now I have been thinking about going down the tape extension route. I have been there before and it was the only method I really liked. I have fine hair and was constantly paranoid of clip-in extensions and equally terrified of the more traditional bonding methods. Tape is great for those with fine hair - it's virtually undetectable and both application and removal are fairly easy. Case in point - the last time I dabbled I did it all myself.

This time however, I went to Nicolas & Jean in the Media One Hotel and got a professional application.

The requirements were as follows:

1) Match my hair colour
2) Give me volume
3) Give me nipple covering hair

Now I didn't bark out the final order but I basically told them what I wanted with a hand gesture - that "to about here" thing you do with your hands at boob level.

They used Hairdreams and this was the final result. I am really happy with the fullness. Sad ends be gone...or be hidden amongst some fakery!

As mentioned above, my natural hair texture is fine so achieving long lengths with healthy, full ends is unlikely to ever happen. Faking it is an easy way out and whilst I am sure there will be a little damage along the way, this is the quickest way to live out my mermaid hair fantasy.

For those of you who have no idea what I talking about when I say "tape extensions", it's exactly what it sounds like. You take a small section of your own hair and sandwich it between two small wefts of hair extensions that have a clear silicon-based tape at the top. Press them together and they stick...for about 3 months provided you don't drench your hair in oil. It looks something like this....

They are flexible so you can put your hair in a ponytail and the clear tape helps them disappear from sight.

I will definitely be back to Nicholas & Jean for blowdries. I have never seen so many women walk out with Victoria's Secret hair in my life.

I do love this kind of impulsive decision-making. I will keep these in for a couple of months and then who knows what's next? :)

Have you tried these hair extensions?

  16. I love this, I've been thinking of hair extensions for ages, but I can't decide because I have a lot of hair as it is. I think it might give me to much hair.

  18. I love it! I love, that we have the option to chop our hair off and then while growing it out again, can have extensions put in. I have bright red hair at the moment which is a pain to upkeep. So whenever I decide to go back to brown, I already know I'll get some permanent extensions. My hair isn't short or thin but I LOVE the way every day long and super thick hair look like VS model hair (:
It was a great impulsive decision!

  34. Looks amazing! Do you mind me asking how expensive they are? I actually bought some clip ins and they worked amazing but really pulled my hair, I just took them to my hairdresser and she blended them really well but once I colored my hair...I didn't think about me not being able to wear them again :(

  35. I love the extensions, they look great! The clear tape is great, too. Mine have the clips and I never feel like I can put my hair up with them in!

  36. I love the lenght you have.
I cut my hair about a month ago and I wish I only cut the ends and let the lenght stay. But it is what it is, and I'm one of the lucky ones with thick and full hair so it will grow again.
Hairextentsion I considerd but I don't have the time, with work and school, as my final exams are in the beginning of october.

  37. This makes me wish I'd kept my long hair, I'd gotten it to your length and impulsively chopped it all off! This suits you so much and looks amazingly natural. Such Kardashian hair (that's a massive compliment I get such hair envy when I see photos of them).

  52. I know I am a little late to the party, but these look amazing. Have you had any hair loss from them? I am experiencing thinning (I think prompted by another kind of extension) and I want to cover the damage and help out my hair a bit and also make myself feel cute again! ;-) Thanks for this post!

  53. Clip in hair extensions have made the life easy and this had made possible for all women to get any sort of hair style without going to the salons. Hair Pieces are into trend and those of you who need to have them do not have to rush to salons rather you need to purchase Indian Remy Hair extensions that are available all over the market and are very affordable.
