OK FOTD

OK so a week or so after purchase I have to admit that I am still psyching myself towards the wearing of MAC Candy Yum Yum. I feel like it's a little too out there for me to handle right now but I am confident that I will get there. I say this with a fervent nod because I am definitely getting accustomed to that kind of vivid tone because my new favourite lipstick is now Maybelline's Fuchsia Flash.

What a colour Fuchsia Flash is. It might whiff a bit of plasticine but it's a fun hot pink and yet extremely wearable. For work I dab it on lightly (so as not to frighten anyone) and when I go out in the evenings I care less and apply with a generous slather. Pigmentation is good, longevity is okay and it looks fantastic with warm eyeshadows to really lift an office tanned face.

This is just one of those products that gives the wearer a big smile...although having said that I seem totally unable to ever smile in my FOTD type photos. I have one pose and one pose only in my repertoire.

Lips: Maybelline Fuchsia Flash
Skin: By Terry Cover Expert...addicted to the smell but it looks absolutely appalling anywhere near my under eyes.
Eyes: MAC Amorous Alloy and Bobbi Brown's Beige smooshed together to create one brown/warm neutral sludgey eye
Mascara: Lancome Hypnose Star - friggin fantastic mascara. I am on my second tube!
Blusher: Laura Mercier Orange Blossom...

...so Orange Blossom is new to my collection...and just look at her!

Bascially, Selfridges messed up an online order made in December - very badly - and after a month of kerfuffle gave me a generous e-voucher. I obviously blew it all on makeup and this was one of those impromptu "add to basket" moments.

It worked out though because to me this is such a great discovery. It reminds me of NARS Orgasm but infinitely better. It's a peach/pink with a gleaming gold undertone. What this equates to is a colour that makes you glow as soon as you put it on. No glitter, just glow. Take that Orgasm!

I feel like Laura Mercier is a brand I have always taken for granted - I know it's there but I hardly ever examine the goods. Lately it's come into focus and I feel like I need to research and explore to find the gems like Orange Blossom. If you have any tips on products that are worth looking into let me know!

See you guys soon :)

  2. Orange blossom is next on my list of blushes to buy. I think you need to get yourself some Laura Mercier caviar sticks, I'd go for the colours rose gold, sand glow and cocoa are beautiful! I wear one almost everyday for uni when I cannot be bothered getting ready, they're great and last all day with hardly any signs of wear.

    1. It's super pretty! Its similar to lush nectarine but x13232392 times better - it's softer/gives more of a sheen.

  5. I always wear Candy Yum Yum like this! dabbed on with a bit of lip balm before/after, It looks nice with a balm that's not too glossy as well- something like the Nuxe one. Candy Yum Yum is one of my fave purchases ever, its a grower! Think I will pick this Maybelline one up too when I wander past a Boots! x

  11. I alway thought that because of my darker skin I couldn't wear bright lipsticks like that, but I'm loving me some Fuchsia Flash as well! It lasts really well on me, even through a sunday lunch! xx

  20. Pretty. I understand about not smiling in FOTD photos. It's always hard to take good pictures of yourself straight on with a smile.

  31. This is the kind of photo that makes me root out my cool-toned pink lipsticks and try to work 'em. They look awful, always. It's coral, peach or no dice. Sigh.

Would investigate that blush if I wasn't saving for 3+ of the Hourglass spring launch.

  34. Wow, that lipstick is stunning!

Will look out for that blusher. I've got another LM one which, after a million uses, hasn't gone down at all. So I don't mind paying a bit more ££ for the good quality! :)

  35. Love this look! The warm toned brown eye with the fuchsia lip is a stroke of genius! Now as a makeup artist I am telling you to please try Candy Yum Yum! Don't be scared of those brights! You seem to be rocking this one just fine ;)
