I ignored the hot, sweaty weather and absolutely piled on the clothes and makeup today.
It all started with the Topshop heart blouse. I was determined to wear it after neglecting it in my wardrobe for months and the only way I could think of making it work was in a jeans and jumper affair. I think a lot of this is to do with the fact that a shirt covered in cutesy hearts is pretty hard for me to carry off at my age. My only strategy was to cover it up with a gorgeous light knit, add some Zara bling and hope for the best. :)
Shirt: Topshop (last season)
Jumper: Topshop - Link! I got this recently and it's a must have. They describe it as a sheer sleeve mid length jumper. This translates as something that feels light and comfy to wear whilst also being loose and bum covering. It's ideal for layering over shirts if that's something you like as much as me!
Shoes: ASOS - Link!
By this point I accepted that I would stay in air conditioning all day (as a necessity) and so I decided to go the whole hog with the make up with much foundation and contouring action. It's quite nice to pile it on every now and then and see a new and improved version of yourself.
Make up wise this is what I used:
YSL Touche Eclat foundation in BR30 - I sneaky duty free purchase that I am only now 'fessing up to. It's a curious formula. I say that because although it does bring a touch of radiance - and the finish is quite lovely - the majority of the highlighting effect seems to be it's ability to reveal my dry patches.
NARSissist palette on my eyes - specifically I used Fez and Mekong: these are great shades. I used Mekong along my lash line as well blending out the wet mess that is Laura Mercier's Creme Eye Liner in Espresso. Seriously Laura, why you so gloopy?
On my cheeks I whacked on ALOT of Charlotte Tilbury's Filmstar Bronze & Glow.
I stated previously that the highlighter in this palette is lovely. I stand by that. The claim on the packaging is valid - it's candlelit glow material. I would prefer to use a slightly less warm contour but I went with it today and I didn't mind it at all. It gave some colour to my face and worked pretty well to define what it needed to. I am going away for a long weekend soon and I'll probably pop this into my makeup bag as it's perfect for evening's - or for daytime if you are inclined to slap it on like myself.
Lips-wise we went with MAC Creme d'Nude. The eyes/skin/cheeks felt quite heavy by the time I got round to this part and so the only comfortable choice was a nude.
I hope you all had a good weekend! Mine was largely spent with these three rascals - I am currently dog sitting for Ming Ming and Sweetie (L-R). Roger is delighted about this and so am I. My transformation into Mad Dog Lady is complete! :)
