Life Lately #1

I enjoy the randomness of life lately type posts and I decided to jump on the bandwagon and start my own series. I tried to come up with a clever title but let's just say it how it is...this is my life lately and this is edition 1!

(Top to bottom, L-R)

1. My new favourite skirt from Reiss was worn this week. This was a spendy purchase - especially as I had to buy it from the UK and couldn't take advantage of my UAE discount - but so worth it. I'll do a proper post soon! Zara took this photo (thanks Zara!) after a shisha session at Reem al Bawadi in Downtown.

2. A visit to Dubai Mall typically comes with a trip to Level Shoe District. This is the largest shoe emporium in the world and has every brand under the sun. Having said that my quest for summer sandals goes on....I cannot seem to find the right pair.

3. Miso cod and wasabi mash at Katsuya. This is my new favourite restaurant. The food was SENSATIONAL. Definitely head here if you are on holiday because if you get a table on the balcony you get an epic view of the fountains and Burj Khalifa.

4. Sandcastles in JBR...snapped during a girl's night out that is documented in Simone's vlog :)

5. My current make up rut - Laura Mercier mineral foundation, Collection 2000 concealer, MAC Lingering eyebrow pencil, NYX Terracotta blusher and Bobbi Brown shadows feature heavily.

6. The Bobbi Brown Old Hollywood Palette. I LOVE this at the moment. Well, technically I love two shadows: Beige and Fog (second row, far left). It annoys me that I can't see the single version of these on the Bobbi Brown website. I don't know what I am going to do when I hit pan.

7. A dress I am currently considering from Max & Co. I think I might wait until it's on sale - we are probably only about a month away from that time, right?

8. Marc Jacobs lipstick in Moody Margot. I felt so naughty buying this - another nude lipstick....yawn - but it's a lovely shade on. It's more on the beige nude side and the white undertone is scant so it doesn't corpse the lips out.

9. Roger meeting our new family member. She (still need to choose a name!) came home with us today so is still in an adjustment phase. She had a difficult start to life, having been kept in a cage in a room with about 50 other chihuahuas, none of which had much human contact. She likes cuddles though and Roger is very happy to have her around so with lots of TLC she should settle in nicely. Fingers crossed!

See you all tomorrow!

  1. I love reading life posts like this, but it makes me so jealous of Dubai! Moody Margot is such a good name... & the new addition looks lovely :)

  2. I've been loving seeing you in Simones vlogs! Congrats on the new dog, so so adorable - can't wait to hear the name!

  3. Great post Laura, can't wait to sample all these delights when I move over! Not long to go now :-) Love the Max & co dress you should definitely purchase it!

  4. Yay, the start of a great new series I think! I am so jealous of all the sunshine in Dubai.
That picture of the Bobbi Brown Old Hollywood Palette makes me want to cry. I hate it with such a passion. Two reasonable shades and the rest, unuseable iffy glitter. I recently took this on holiday with me to try to force myself to use it in the evenings. Fortunately I also had Nars Narsissist with me; it was all I could do to toss Old Hollywood! So sad for such a pretty and eyewateringly expensive palette. Glad you're enjoying it though.

  5. Aww your new addition is so cute. I hope she adjusts well.

  6. Yes I love these types of posts too! I already do one series similar called Photo Diary, but I'm thinking a Life Lately series would be a good idea too so I can share what I've been up to in more detail..

    Yazmin xx

  7. I love this post. And the Marc Jacobs lipstick looks awesome.

  8. new doggy is mega cute, how lovely is her bed? I'm thinking because she's dark-haired and middle-eastern she could be called Layla as it means night in Arabic :) I also like Lana, and Lily or perhaps something that goes with Roger, like Rosie or more old-fashioned like Audrey :)

  9. that looks like a fabulous life lately!! :)
I would love for you to come check out my blog!

  10. Your posts make me want to go back to Dubai so badly!

  11. Oh I have been dying to try Katsuya! Thanks for the recommendation!

  12. Nothing wrong with having a nothing-but-nude attitude! BB's palette looks lovely and I'm happy to see that Roger has a new friend! I'm sure she will adjust just fine. My family adopted a rescue dog a couple years ago we don't regret it! It will be interesting to see her interact with Roger--she will definitely bring out a new side of his personality :)

  13. That chihuahua puppy looks precious! Roger and her will be the best of friends.

  14. I love these posts too Laura! That shoe emporium looks like heaven!!! Your new arrival looks super cute, I hope she settles in well & becomes Besties with Roger! I got a Pug puppy 3 wks ago & it's amazing how quickly he has got used to my other 2 dogs.
    Hugs xoxo

  26. I LOVE this post Laura, these random patched together posts work really well, most of us have a nosy side to us (well, we do, lets face it!) and this satisfies the shopping, beauty, lifestyle ideas we're all contented to read with a cup of coffee on the sofa :) big thumbs up!

Hope Rose is settling in and Roger is making her feel welcome and sharing his toys! :)
