Right, I am going to ask you to humour me here. I just want you to allow me one more post about those Clinique Soft Matte lipsticks and then I promise to shut up.
So you know that I was sent the last two. Full disclaimer. However, when I was working the Google to see swatches of the other shades in the range there were two that I honed in on/needed immediately.
I therefore toddled off to Sephora/Dubai Mall and got two more: Peony (L) (a vibrant hibiscus pink) and Mandarin (R) (a gorgeous rich orange/coral).
…and these are amazing.
I will say this. If you really want to understand the performance of this range then I would advise going with a brighter colour. With the brighter shades you truly get a sense of the formula: the pigmentation is rich and intense and seems to last a good few hours without causing any lip shrivel. And they are just so lightweight.

Mug with Peony
I went out of the house with Peony slapped on my gob and didn’t even realize until I got home that I was in fact dog walking with an inappropriately glam lip. You just forget that they are even there.
In order to balance the argument I will say one thing – as moreish as these are the colours are not special. You can’t argue with the fact that there are countless lipsticks on the market that mimic these colours. It’s to be expected. There are only so many pantones in the world - that and the fact that Clinique want to guarantee profits and have therefore harnessed onto shades that are commercially appealing.
In summary I would say buy these if you fancy the idea of a matte lip but don’t want to slather on a thick, drying formula that will compromise the state of your lips. If that sounds like you then pay the Clinique stand a visit.
And that’s all I will say on the matter. I’ll move on to something else tomorrow I promise J
