There’s nothing like a good lipstick to kick off the week on a positive note. Meet Rebellious Rose from the Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting lipstick.
I had heard mutterings about this new formulation from Lauder – namely that it was opaque in one swipe while still feeling lightweight and non-drying. It sounded good but I cannot pretend that I didn’t have some preconceptions before trying/buying this. I pictured basic packaging and perhaps a wee whiff of “old lady” in the formulation. Admittedly the packaging is a light plastic but the magnetic closure lends a nice design touch and as far as the scent goes it’s a delicate light vanilla.
And the formulation? Every bit as good as the rumours led me to believe. It’s so well balanced, like a hybrid between a MAC Amplified and a MAC Cremesheen. The sheer level of pigmentation means that you need a mirror and a steady hand but once it’s on you won’t even detect it on your lips. The level of moisturisation is that effective. Of course, what that also means is that it just doesn’t stay there long. I average about 3 hours before I end up with a faint reminder around my lips.
Now the shade I plumped for was Rebellious Rose.
This range is not currently out in the UAE (I got mine at Heathrow duty free) but when it arrives I would be tempted to look at the rest of the shades….
Ha! This is such a lie. When this lands I WILL be buying Defiantly Coral because that looks incredible and was the other shade that I came this close to buying.
Skin: Clarins Extra Comfort foundation in Honey, YSL Souffle D’Eclat powder in 04, Clarins Summer Bronzing Compact
Blusher: Tarte “Natural Beauty” with a teeny bit of Benefit "Watts Up" on the top of the cheeks

Thanks for reading and I hope you had a fab Sunday.
