Sadly I didn’t have any alternative shots to put in this
post so we make do with this questionable one. I could have asked the husband
to kindly volunteer for another “shoot” but seeing as he acts like Kevin the
Teenager (watch the video from about 1minute in for an idea of what that means - Link! ) whenever I request an OOTD I decided against it.
I wore this yesterday and, if I am being honest, also the
day before. It’s all about oversized comfort and there is something very nice
about wearing simple separates. The jeans were absolutely filthy by the time we
got round to taking this photo – the perils of wearing white!
Jeans: French Connection
Top: H&M (old)
Blazer: Zara (old)
Sunglasses: Ray-Ban
Shoes: Zara (old)
Bag: Givenchy Antigona (small) - Link!
I think the key bit here is the blazer. There is nothing
like a boyish blazer to hide a multitude of sins and bring a bit of a
Chloe-esque vibe. This one is from Zara and a few seasons old but there are so
many good versions about at the moment including one from French Connection
which is currently on sale on ASOS….and no, I am not sponsored by ASOS in
anyway (that would be nice!), I am just an addict that clicks on “New In” as
part of their daily morning ritual.
In other news
How’s this for a total subject 180? Today I had to go along
to a clinic for a second ultrasound followed by a mammogram – an oddly
emotional experience.
Since hearing Stacey’s news I have been very conscious of health
and when I felt a lump in my right breast last week, I went to the doctors
straight away. After an ultrasound that
revealed lesions, they referred me to a specialist. It turns out I have lots of
the little bleeders. Thankfully they are benign cysts but there is nothing like
a jolt of reality to make you realize how important it is not to take your
health for granted.
It’s funny isn’t it? I often spend so much energy on the
external, visiting hairdressers, getting manicures and other superficial
treatments and yet am often tempted to put off the appointments that really
matter.
This was a firm reminder not to be so foolish and I have since booked in an overdue smear exam and would encourage anyone else to do the same.
Hope you are all very well!

Laura thanks so much for linking my blog-I am so happy to hear that you went to the docs and that everything is all good!

Thanks Stacey - I hope it's okay that I linked to your latest one. I both laughed (cockerel/Hugh Grant) and cried along with that today... It's great news that you can just concentrate on healing from this operation, without the worry of any further treatment. I hope you are resting and spending lots of time perving on makeup sites to take your mind of everything :)
DeleteI love this outfit, your hair looks lovely too :)

Ah my boyfriend acts exactly like your other half. I usually have to buy him some kid of treat to bribe him. Mostly a form of chocolate! He's still not gotten used to it after all these years haha.

I'm so glad you are ok! Prevention is the key. My mom felt a lump in her brest and it was cancer. We are celebrated her 13 years cancer free last week.
ReplyDeleteYou look stunning Laura. So glad you are ok and have got things checked out. You are right we do push the important stuff aside sometimes! What an eye opener. Much love Shaz xx
ReplyDeleteSo damn chic Laura!

Love the blazer! I'll definitely be booking in a few health checks that I've been putting off for a bit too long!

Ironically, I scheduled a much over do girlie appointment today as well. Visiting doctors isn't exactly pleasant, so I can see how we all avoid such things. Manicures, pedicures, hairdressers are much more fun, and results immediate. ;-)
ReplyDeleteAs for the outfit, love it! You can definitely pull it off, I think being nearly a midget (5'2), oversized outfits make me look like rolly polly. :-) I'll just ogle at yours.
Have a great week!
I love your oversized white jeans, they look super comfy. I am glad to hear that you are ok H xx

So glad to hear all is well with you, and good on you for sharing your experience as a reminder to us all that we need to look after ourselves. Facing up to the possibility of something being wrong is such a hard thing to do, but the earlier these things are dealt with, the better. Hope the emotions have settled now but if not, a nice glass of wine is always excellent medicine!

Happy too hear you are doing ok, you look gorgeous by the way. And I need to book my exams soon as well. thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit Laura. Oversized blazers FTW.
ReplyDeleteAlso really glad that everything worked out at the docs. It's silly how simple tests like that and the dreaded smear are put off by us all - we are all guilty of this at some point in our lives - but it's good to just bite the bullet and get it done. They arent that bad at the end of the day & we need to take care of ourselves!

ReplyDeletei know what you mean. after i've had our little man (apart from that i have no dignity left now after all those doctors probing, poking me) i've been more aware of what I need to do proactively to prevent something or fix any health related info.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you're ok :)
