Who would have thought this would be Diesel? If you go in store and see the Spring/Summer collection you'll notice a lot of signature Diesel style pieces - denim, leather and studding - but then also total surprises like this…
This Penny dress has ruffles, ribbons and is one-shouldered, a combination of detail that creates the prettiest of lines. I don't know where I have been but I just wouldn't have associated it with the brand.
When I was invited to go in store and pick out some items that took my fancy and this was the first thing that caught my eye. They had merchandised it with a beautiful suede jacket that has plenty of studding detail. I like the concept of mixing a feminine dress with a "tougher" item but in all honesty, I just love this dress by itself and I just can't do cool. I'm like 10 years too late for that.
The other item I selected was also - surprise, surprise - a dress.
This Vette shirt dress style is double layered, incredibly light (to the extent that you feel disconcertingly naked) and again a very feminine shape. This I really like with the Jenna leather jacket in sky blue. The jacket is uber-soft and it doesn't feel like I am trying too hard.
I wasn't able to keep the jacket but I would consider buying it if only because of the quality and also a vision that I have of wearing it with white jeans and a white top. These visions haunt me until a purchase is made so watch this space! :)
When I posted the picture of the white dress on Instagram several comments referred to the fact that stores often surprise us.
We can sometimes find the most amazing pieces in the most unexpected places.
Someone gave an example of a surf brand that delivered a beautiful summer dress. For me it's often somewhere that I under-estimate that pleasantly shocks me or changes my perception of that brand.
With that in mind have any stores recently delivered a hidden gem for you?
