The ASOS Striped Tunic

Hurray! My ASOS order arrived. Although a modest little haul of three items I am very happy to report that each one is a success!

Being the normal person that I am, I opened the door to the courier, signed for package, ripped open package and then proceeded to whip off clothes and try my favourite items on AT ONCE.

I would like to point out that I was working from home and was not at a client's office when this occurred.

I love the dress but….I (optimistically) ordered a size 8 and I should have gone for a 10. I feel a lot happier when things are more generously sized and my arse is totally camouflaged in enough fabric. And I have a size 10 arse.

It is however a lovely piece. A lot thicker and heavier than I first imagined - a good thing as it gives the dress a nice weight and it falls straight. There is an exposed zip at the back which I never love - aren't we over that yet? - but its thankfully short so doesn't come down below shoulder height.

The highlight for me though is the dainty Converse. These are a revelation. I had previously believed that wearing Converse with dresses and shorts would just never happen for me. As soon as I attempted it I looked like a frumpy pleb. It was as if the Converse shortened by legs by 10 inches and widened them by the same.

The dainty version have changed that. I had of course seen them before but dismissed them as "girly". Well it turns out that girly is just what I bloody needed as that thinner sole makes a world of difference. They are far more flattering and of course that thinner sole makes them a lot lighter and possibly more comfortable. If you don't own them then I highly recommend securing them for summer.

FYI: As you can see I am sporting a bright lip in the above photos. This is Bobbi Brown's Hot Orange Art Stick. I have had a couple of questions regarding this and Sunset Orange and I think they are remarkably similar. In fact I am a little disappointed by Hot Orange. Sure, it's bright but it's not as Morange-y as I wanted it to be. If you have Sunset Orange just stick with that one and save your pennies - you absolutely don't need this.

I'll see you tomorrow. I am popping into the hairdressers after work and hoping for something of a transformation…oo err - how exciting! :)

  1. That dress is absolute perfection, Laura! And I certainly cannot detect a size 10 bum in the photos - this looks great on you!

  3. I am so bad at online shopping, I feel like I never get the right size... But alas, practice makes perfect, am I right?

  4. Absolutely love the striped dress and sneakers look - very casual-California-style a la Sincerely Jules! Great tip about the thinner soled sneakers - I loved the whole leopard slip-on sneakers trend from last year - but whenever I tried on a pair it looked like I had man feet (same with Birkenstocks lol!). Will keep an eye out for thinner soles to get a more flattering fit!

  5. I'm looking forward to your new look :) I left a comment on your insta but ot sure you'll see it among the thousands of notifications you must get. I know you've mentioned you've been wearing a lot of bracelets recently and a week ago I got some David Smallcombe cuff bracelets, the ones Lorraine Stanick has worn for years, and I was wondering if you have ever bought any. I absolutely love mine and they sort of give a off a Cartier Love bracelet vibe for much less.

  14. Puuuurdy! I think I'll have to join you in this size 10 bum club, I could probably fit in a size 8 if my bum calmed itself down a bit.

  20. I love these kinds of dresses but with my slim sticklegs they just look like I'm drowning in them. I would really appreciate a size ten butt though...
