How to grow long hair quickly...

…get a weave :)

Well here we are again. A whole load of fake hair has been once more been affixed to my head. This time though I think we got it just right.

I'll say upfront that this was a very impulsive decision. One minute I was having a blow dry and the next I was making an appointment and ordering hair.

As before I went for my favourite hair extension method - tape extensions. I love these because they lay flat, are virtually invisible and are therefore ideal for anyone with fine hair for those very reasons.

My main goal was length rather than volume. The last time I had this done the hairdresser was rather over zealous with the amount of extensions and I ended up with an uncontrollable mane.

I swopped hairdressers and got them done by Louise at Hairworks/Battuta. I would recommend her as she colour matched PERFECTLY and understood what I wanted.

It's only a few inches longer than my natural hair but I would like to think that this helps it look "natural". There has been no pain, I can continue to use my favourite Oribe products and I hair flip like no tomorrow.

Downsides? Well:

a) I need to allocate a lot more time to getting ready - there. is. just. so. much. hair. compared to what I am normally used to and as a result I think I am actually going to become one of THOSE people that never wash their own hair but get it blown dry on a bi-weekly basis.

b) I am constantly playing and touching it which is probably deeply annoying for anyone around me.

c) I need to keep an eye on the colour. My natural hair has so much bleach underneath that semi-permanent dye and it is going to lift quickly so if I still want these to look believable I have to vigilant. As you can imagine, this is very serious business :)

d) They will have to be maintained. I am likely to need a replacement/break in about 2/3 months so there will be additional cost and time that I need to invest. In a way I don't mind this because at least then I can have a little review and see if I still want fake hair on me head.

You know I never used to consider myself adventurous with hair but in the last year I have been blonde, black, ombre, blonde, ombre, brown and now brown and fake-haired. When I write this down I am honestly surprised I still have hair left!

Have you tried tape extensions yet?

  2. Your hair is on fleek!! (Is that how it's spelt?) In all seriousness the extensions look amazing. I've wanted to try them for ages but my hair is super thick so find extensions become really obvious at the point where my hair ends and goes into the extensions... You are definitely making me feel the need to be more adventurous next time I go to the hairdressers however!

  3. I love how this looks! I have been trying to have long and voluminous hair for entire life but it is medium lenght and flat so extensions sound like a great idea

    1. Sounds like me. I can grow long hair but by the time it gets serious length it looks flat and sad. For me it's the ends - they become to whisky and broken. Fake is the only way.

  4. Still looks good though even if it'll take longer to dry and style!

  7. Hair looks stunning, and so natural. I've had trouble getting hair extensions to match my hair texture as my own hair is quite coarse and super wavy

  13. Do you just wash them as normal? Does your hair smell more after cooking, exercising etc?

  16. I am so impulsive with my hair too.. "chop it all off", "bleach it" or "make it dark". I am never happy. The extensions look fab on you. A great length, not too obnoxious :-)

  17. They look so natural!! love them! I'm a blonde so extensions always look fake on me sadly. However, I have now realised that i rock short hair so much better. I will sadly never be a hair flicker, but i will be a salt spray messy beachy short hair scruncher. xx

  18. It looks amazing! I'd have to go for it for volume as I definitely don't struggle to grow my hair! It grows so quickly!

  21. I am ROSE SMITH from CANADA a single parent, before my husband died he left us with so much DEBT that we could not cope with life, I was totally confused on what to do. When I was going through the internet I came across a POST by MARCUS CAFE about how Mrs JULIA NAVARO help him to get a loan so I applied for the loan from JULIA NAVARO through her mail (navaroloancompany@yahoo.com) of $200,000 with a duration of 10 years. When I was applying for the loan I made a vow to GOD that if I get the loan I will let the world know what she did for me, to my greatest surprise my loan was granted with
an interest of 2%. I was able to settle my debt and start up a new life and business with a settled family. So if you want any type of loan for as low as 2% please contact JULIA NAVARO on her mail navaroloancompany@yahoo.com.I just fulfilled my vow.

  22. Hormonal changes is the most common cause of hair loss. While reading about the best products, I came to know that celebrities with fake hair tend to have thinning throughout their head without being in any specific pattern.
