UK Haul…part 1?

There is just so. much. choice! I have been in the UK for a couple of days and that's the first thing that hit me - in the supermarket, in the drugstore, wherever, the choices are endless. I hit Boots in Tunbridge Wells today and had made some online orders - together, I think I have enough products to justify a haul post, right? :)

In no particular order, let's get on with the breakdown. Oh and if it makes any difference, everything was purchased with my own money - no artfully placed content this neck of the woods.

1) I BLOG. WTF DO YOU DO bag - Link!

I saw it on Instagram and it made me chuckle/move quicker than a lightning bolt to order. I ended up getting 4 of them - 1 for me and 3 for friends. They are well priced and well made, so much so that today I ordered this one and this one for a friend. You can never have too many bags...

2) NIP + FAB Glycolic pads/Dragon's Blood Fix Plumping Mask/Glycolic Instant Fix Mask

Can you tell it was a 3 for 2 in Boots yet?

Although I thought it was hilarious that Kylie Jenner clearly knew NAFF ALL about the skincare range that she was endorsing during her recent trip to London that whole marketing jam exposed me to a few products in the range:

* The glycolic pads get good reviews and are far cheaper than their pricey counterparts
* The Dragons Blood mask, while given a BS name, is laden with hyaluronic acid and I am rather keen on that; and
* The glycol instant fix mask seems like one of those products that needs to be at reach on days when I feel like plop.

3) Sunday Riley - Good Genes - Link!

If this is sh*t I am never going to trust a blogger again. Seriously. This better be good! I asked on Twitter before ordering (because this isn't cheap!) and the majority of responses were positive. I am looking for radiance and general refinement rather than miraculous anti-ageing (which btw doesn't happen with topical products, hello Botox) so I am hopeful that this will deliver. It smells a little lemon-meets-fake-tan and the pump dispenses far too much product but so far I haven't had a negative reaction to it. I shall continue with this and report back.

4) James Read Overnight Tan - Link!

I was always a little hazy on the details regarding this product. All I knew was that James Read produces my favourite fake tan mousse EVARR and the word "sleep mask tan" sounded faintly seductive. Fast forward to a day after usage and although the colour is nice (a little stronger than a gradual tan), the product dispenses a transparent colour (i.e., so easy to bodge up on application) and has that classic faux tan scent. So basically I stink and I'm a bit patchy. Awesome.

5) COLAB dry shampoo in Tokyo - Link!

This gave me old lady grey hair this morning but I keep spraying it because I love the smell. No, it's not an Oribe Dry Texturising spray dupe but it's a pretty effective dry shampoo and the scent, all accents of sweet white florals and mandarin, is a little bit addictive.

6) St Tropez Self Tan Dry Oil - Link!

Very interesting this. A fake tan suspended in an oil formula. I do hope it's less prone to bodge ups than the James Read and I love the idea that it might be faintly moisturising. I just pray that the glass packaging does not go tits up on the flight back because as lovely as the colour surely is, I'd rather my clothes were not stained in it.

7) Essie Romper Room - Link!

Once upon a time I had a manicure at Pastel Salon in Dubai and the manicurist expertly applied this colour. I fell in love. It's like Fiji's hotter, more interesting sister and I decided that I must buy it. One small problem: there was no stock in Dubai. None. Well I am delighted to report that it's still very much available over here so I bought 2. And Laura Carlson has secured one for me bringing my back up total to 3. #normal.

8) Maybelline The Eye Eraser - Link!

Bloody hell. This is good stuff. I always knew it would be but it isn't sold in Dubai and so I sort of forgot/gave up the fight over the years.  It was actually my niece that recommended this and after picking up the Light shade I can concur that this is an eye brightener like no other. I may possibly/definitely get another before I leave.

9) Real Techniques Bold Metals brushes - Link!

Oooh aren't these fancy? Despite the fact that I seldom contour for fear of creating a beard on my already hairy face I got the contour brush and the nifty looking oval shadow brush. I thought the price point was pretty high - it's only when you actually buy these for yourself that the reality of cost hits - but I'll be interested to see how these stand up tomorrow.

That's all for now but I am sure there will be a part 2. I have made a MAC order so expect some details regarding that and should there be any must have product waiting for me in the aisles of Boots/Superdrug/department store please let me know! :)

Hope you are all well! xx

  1. OH MY GOD I NEED that I Blog bag. In my life. ASAP. Any way you could pick it up for me and we could do a swap? :)

  2. "There is just so. much. choice!" that's the first thing I thought when I went into Boots/Superdrug! I miss that about the UK, although it's probably better for my bank account!!!

  3. I hope you will love St Tropez dry oil self tan. It's my absolute fave. The application can be messy and takes some practice but once you get a hang of it it's fine. I also had to get used to the smell and the stickiness but once you get past all that you can't beat the fact it doesn't dry out the skin like the rest of them do. and the colour is lovely. By the way, don't worry about flying. I flew from Canada to Brazil and back and it didn't explode or leak. I do recommend to shrink wrap it a few times just in case.

  4. If the face oils are of interest to you and you already aware that they will do nothing miraculous, check out "May Lindstrom The Youth Dew".. I just got my first bottle in March and I couldn't be without it.. I use it as my moisturizer now, it is heavier than the Kiehls midnight recovery and smells like exotic oranges.. I love everything you recommend so here is my recommendation

  5. You picked up so many lovely things! I think I might be in the UK later on in the year and can't wait for the shopping prospects. x

  6. I love the bag. I can't believe colab gave you grey hair.

    Katie x

  7. I'm heading to the UK in less than 2 weeks and I can't wait to haul some things. That CoLab Dry Shampoo is so good. We only have two scents here in Canada but the one I love (Rio) smells like a tropical vacation in a can.

  8. Oooh, a lovely little selection here Laura! And I'm glad I'm not the only one blessed with a hairy face! Ha!

Interested to know what the St tropez dry oil is like and I knew you'd love that Maybelline Eraser stuff, make sure you stock up! :)

  9. Love that makeup bag, I have to have it, fab little haul, really like the Essie polish it is such a pretty shade.

  10. OMG i like that words written on your purse :-)

  11. Please review Sunday Riley Good Genes! Been wanting to pick it up but the price is a little frightening. NIP + FAB Glycolic Pads sounds good, will try it out once my First Aid Beauty's pads are out. Great haul! (:

  12. So excited to hear more about the tanning oil! Would be a dream come true if it doesn't patch up.

  13. Wow so many goodies! Really curious to hear your thoughts on the St Tropez oil and the Sunday Riley good genes. Definitely hope they work for you :)

  14. Laura, seriously when it came to Good Genes, I had my doubts! However I was having a s**t day and thought f**k this, I need to buy something. Space NK is not too far from where I work so I went and made the purchase.

I've never looked back! You'll love Luna too! A retinoid oil, oooh-er.

  15. I've got major shopping envy now! Lots of these will be going on my list. I love the bag so much! X

  16. Good Genes is such a great product. I reviewed it recently, and the only downside is the smell. Lemon meets fake tan is a way to nice description. Oh, and the price. That one is a downside, too.
But apart from that: I love it and never want to be without it again.

  17. Well... I bought the Sunday Riley Good Genes and after a few uses, my skin freaked out. I have sort of sensitive skin and everyone said it would be fine. Lies. lol. I did more research and bought a cold pressed organic Rose Hip Oil, which not only fixed my skin, but did more than three bottles of the Caudalie Vinoperfect Serum. I do hope you have a better reaction to the SR product than I did.

  18. Small world...another Tunbridge Wells girl here! And I surprised you got such goodies from their Boots, I normally find myself battling with teenage girls!

  19. Huge amount of love for this post Laura, I have been known very occasionally to have the odd haul!

I have no plans to go to the UK at the moment but I am off to the US next month. BUT when I do go home I want all the Nip and Fab (although I assume we can get it here soon!!) and I defo want that Maybelline concealer! The bag is just mazeballs (or sensational in Simone speak)

I am using the Good Genes right now and I would say it's too early to see any huge difference yet I am going though it so quickly!!

    See you soon!
